I wonder how this would compare to my jotunheim.
DarPhyveI would say the Jot is more of a amp\dac this more a dac\amp if that makes sense.
KozicNo please clarify for those like me who don't know the difference, thanks
riseuplightI think he means the Jot is an amp first and foremost, with DAC functionality as an added convenience. This item is a DAC first and foremost, with a headphone amp added for convenience. If you're looking for just a headphone amp, the Jot may be the right item. If you need a DAC with a lot of features, the Matrix Mini may be the thing for you.
This is tempting to have as a full-featured back-up to my current set-up. Single-ended and balanced outputs? Pretty cool.
DarPhyveI wonder too--but to my Jotunheim--no comparison!
luckybaerI wouldn't say that to the boys at Schitt--they offer multiple options for the Jot's DAC module and consider it a significant upgrade, rather than a second thought, slap on.
RayFYes, Schiit makes good stuff. I own Eitr, Modi 2 MB, Loki Mini, Vali 2, Magni 3, and Gungnir MB. I may sell some stuff soon.
luckybaerSounds like you could open your own store
RayFNo doubt. Once things get settled down here with some new gear, I'm going to sell a bunch of the old on eBay. I can definitely see the Magni 3 and the Loki Mini going up there. Hard to get rid of the Eitr, Modi MB and Vali 2 -> what a great sounding stack of Schiit.
DarPhyveI've been told that before, but not in the context of audio components. :-)
luckybaerNope. Not gonna sell my Schiit gear. In fact, just added Freya, their balanced pre-amp. Solid piece of... gear.
