I wonder how delayed and underwhelming this cable will be?
/s
Joking aside - this looks very nice. I'm a little sceptical of coiled cables since I last purchased one and the coil just doesn't really sit very straight on the two ends - it doesn't look as clean as I had imagined. Anyone have opinions on how neat and well coiled cables from mechcables are?
I'm confused. So because it was the wrong price, my order was cancelled and I can no longer participate in this drop? I would gladly pay the right price if it means that I can still get it... Kind of sucks now that I have to wait until the next drop for it (if that ever even happens)
mechcablesSo I'm just looking for a little clarification here.
You announced that you were going to make this thing and I can get it for X dollars. I give you (or whoever) X dollars to support the creation of it and you go and make the thing. Then after you make it and it's time to deliver it to me you decide you actually want more money than you originally asked for. So now the thing that I was promised for X dollars I no longer get unless I pay more money. What am I missing here?
I have no issue with spending big money on a coiled aviator cable, but calling this a "Cyberpunk" cable seems a bit misleading. I don't think I'm the only person who thought "This doesn't look remotely cyberpunk" when I first saw this cable. Do what you gotta do, but this just doesn't seem right to me,
HrumHrumThe cable is first an aesthetic upgrade and second a functional one; or an unneeded upgrade at worst.
The connector in the middle is to allow disconnecting the keyboard without removing the cable from the keyboard's usb header (which degrades over time). That's the point of the aviator (GX12/16) connector. These connectors are water resistant and is one of the factors adding to the cost (mostly with soldering) of the cable.
That drop was run by another vendor so sadly there is nothing we can do. You can expect this one to ship on or before the ship date :) We have already started making the cables for this drop.
mechcablesOh I get it. It's just my weird luck with Drop. Lol. I had a couple delays on different drops. But Covid is mostly to blame.
And yeah, different vendor so of course nothing you could do. However, if seems like you may get some hits for future colors for sure. I peeked in on this just cause I was curious for an alternative color.
What's the return policy on this? A bit wary after seeing feedback from a recent cable. This is perfect for my Bulbasaur build, but def don't want to be stuck with a dud. :D
gnomedicWe accept returns for defective cables and will assist with troubleshooting - our support email is contact@mechcables.com. The main issue from the Seafoam drop has been power loss due to the length of the cable (> 11ft on the 6ft variant which can cause issues with high power keyboards such as the ALT/CTRL in certain configurations); user hardware/configuration variation plays a huge part in determining the amount of power that goes through the cable as well which is why some users have no problems.
In this drop the overall length is only ~9ft so the amount of potential power-loss related issues is expected to be significantly lower.
