Although these look sexy, seemingly made with one continuous piece of stainless steel, if you are planning to use these for cooking instead of a split-second garnish, these are not the ones you want. Compared to its plastic or wood handled brothers, like the Home series, these are made pretty flimsy - if you need to grate a block of harder cheese, such as Parmesan or Brie, the lack of reinforcement will make it very difficult as they warp because the steel that holds the grating plate is very minimal and thin (Its brothers handle it fine). In addition, the sharpness of these seem to wear faster than its brothers, though I can't really put my finger on why. Not dishwasher recommended.
$39.61 plus taxes is the cost for me at Amazon on 2/13/2018. With shipping ($2.25 each item), this drop runs $40.72
Sure it will be slightly cheaper than Amazon (after state taxes) but it's not all that much of a deal...
I have the Pro extra coarse for years, highly recommended. I have the Home extra fine, and while it provides good results and is very durable, I would get the Pro here if I had to choose again. I doubt if you would need the medium one.
BackspinHaven’t used it on cabbage. I just chop it up with a knife. I doubt that it will do well because you will rip and tear the cabbage in pieces by the time you drag the grater through.
CuriousGeorgeYou can but the abrasives in the dishwasher tablets will make them useless after a short time. Would be a waste of an investment to do so.
About time the professional series showed up on Massdrop. This is the series to get in my opinion, the all stainless steel construction is really easy to clean and should outlast other series with plastic or wooden handles (don't even think about buying cheaper models with plastic frames around the grater, they don't last!)
Too late for me though, I just bought all of these a couple weeks ago from C&M...
