This should totally be crossposted(sold?) to the Outdoors and/or Ultralight communities, along with speaking about how to mount it to your backpack strap.
Get on it! :)

Does anyone know if Nikon has a viewfinder that can be added to this camera?

I really wanted this camera and then I saw it only ships to America. Why get my hopes up only to crush them soon after? Canada is a neighbour who is upset by all these restrictions.

MhelkiorAlso note that it is refurbished and not new. Have you looked at the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II. About the same as this one new, and I love mine

MalcolmReynolds14In truth I have been scouring for cameras everywhere that offers me all the Nikon 1 AW1 offers, in that i can take it with me under water, is rugged and reliable and sure is only 14MP but for my purposes, globe-trotting, bike touring it checks all the boxes. I am going to buy the camera anyway with the 30-110 lens as well, I just hope its offered here and ships to Canada before I just have to take the plunge and buy it at an in-store inflated price.

I bought one of these recently to replace my Olympus Touch that I lost in deep water from the kayak. It is solidly built and takes a great pic. Just feels quality in your hands. It is not quite as good as a DSLR, but it is considerably better than your typical P&S, while being just as easy to use. Choice of fully compatible (waterproof) lenses is limited - but at least there is a choice. I believe you can also use other Nikon lenses, not sure if this requires an adaptor, and it will not be waterproof with a "regular" lens on it.

Would be interested to hear others opinion on mirrorless. I have a Nikon DSLR that I have used for years and I would like to have something a little smaller to put in my purse and am intrigued with these. Not done any major research on them but would love to hear feedback.

Vine2I've been using mirror less cameras for 6 years now and hardly ever pull out my DSLR unless it's for serious tripod shooting. Mirrorless cameras are light, compact and usually share most of the features of their larger DSLR cousins. Your large Nikon uses FX (full frame 35mm) sensor or a DX which is APS-C or cropped sensor and this little Nikon camera uses a very small CX sensor which is good and bad. Nikon used such a small sensor because they didn't want to jeopadize their other format sales and could offer a cost benefit by selling this as the next step from point and shoot. Personally I use another Manufacturers mirrorless camera system that uses a considerably larger APS-C (or in Nikon speak DX) sensor and I'm extremely happy with it. The AW-1 camera is a large step up in image quality compared to a normal point and shoot but falls short of other manufacturers mirrorless sensor sizes and features. This camera would be great to keep in the glovebox or purse for much improved quality pictures over Cell phone and most others point and shoot cameras. Google some reviews and this looks like it would be a great little camera for a casual user who wants to take better pictures.

SpringyThank you! I appreciate your feedback and that makes perfect sense to me. Sounds like this is not quite what I am looking for as an option from my DSLR but would be a great option for my husband and friend who refuse to touch the DSLR and rely on a regular point and shoot that has to be replaced almost yearly. Will send this over to them! Thank you!
