My post was simply to show the specs of two flashlights which were simultaneously dropping, but thanks for the smug response, William James Sidis.

Why does it list a battery in the specs, but it doesn't come with a battery. Nor does it say anywhere battery not included.

Almost every single decent torch I've bought comes with a battery. Most of them with a rechargable 18650. This is very "meh" value. I'll stick with Fenix lights

Tbh not specifically saying "battery not included" or "flashlight + holster only" is the real standard of consumer products. Literally every product you buy has that listed. It's misleading, hopefully unintentionally. Shame but I'm glad I read the comments. Guess this one's a pass for me.

Is the rotary dial also the on/off switch? I want an infinitely-variable light with a tail switch that turns it on to whatever brightness you left the dial at.
LeoangerThe rotary dial is the on/off switch. Rotate clockwise to turn on and increase brightness. Off the top of my head I don't know if what you are looking for exists, but I will keep my eye out for lights with that feature.

kstokleyThank you. Maybe I'm asking too much; at least this one doesn't default to turbo every time you turn it on!

Is this safe/allowed as carry-on when travelling by air?

VicknesanLast time I took a flight with a flashlight, I was required to carry my 18650 batteries on my carry-on, not in my checked bag. Other than that you should be fine.

FYI, this light is intended for protected button-top 18650's that are nominally ~69 mm long.

OK when I shake mine, my 18650 rattles and it looses connection. Gunna ask about a refund but it think it's a shitty spring design.

I bought this from a different retailer. It is a great light. The dial is a bit difficult to turn but that’s probably a good thing. The tint is good and the beam is relatively floody, which is practical. Overall great light.

Sorry, I’ve only used cr123s

The Nitecore EC22 works with both button top and flat top batteries.
Just looked at the Nitecore store and there's a compatible clicky tailcap switch for <$10 which would give me set & forget operation and I already have 18650 batteries/chargers for a couple other lights. I suspect also that this light will run on 2xCR123A batteries as well, I have a couple 18650 lights that came with a thin sleeve to take up the slightly smaller diameter of the smaller CR123s. A stack of two is the same height, so they'd likely still work even without the sleeve; they'll just rattle a bit. As to the no batteries included, that's fine. Buy decent ones - there's a LOT of crap out there - and pay attention to the mAh rating: the more the better, but most of what can be found online is, ah, grossly misrepresented. They'll work - most of the time - but won't have nearly the runtime or amp-hr rating claimed. I.m going to get in on this - seems like a decent set, and now that I know I can on/off via tailcap, it's even more attractive.
