Product Description
When O’Douds Apothecary founder Clayton Douds couldn’t find the kind of grooming products he wanted—high-quality formulas, responsibly sourced ingredients—he started making his own. Within a year, his hobby of crafting pomades became a full-time business, and the product line expanded to include beard balm, aftershave, candles, cologne, and more Read More
Smells really great. It is really runny, unlike other shampoos that are usually thick in consistency. But I think it lathers up fine. Does a very good job of cleaning my hair. I shampoo twice a day (hot and humid weather...), I have 5-inch long hair, and one bottle lasts me 2.5-3 months.
I bought this combo for the first time at the last drop and I am back to buy a backup pair (no, I am not out of the first batch - I just want the next group on hand whenever I need it). My regular products have been Redken All Soft for the last few years at a time when my previously soft (but thick hair) went through a coarse stage. I have been doing an alternating strategy since getting the O'Douds of 2 times with this one and one of Redken. I prefer my hair to have some texture and dimension to it and not be totally flat. The O'Douds products actually make my hair feel cleaner and at least as soft. I really like it. I love the smell, but I don't think that lasts after you are using it...that I notice. My rating is not in light of any value calculation - I think that is personal determination. My Redken is $40 for 2 of the one liter bottles and that used to be my expensive option... For me, these are quality ingredients and I like what it does for my hair and that is worth it for me. They do work well and the quality/nature of the ingredients is a priority for me.. I will look to see if these O'Douds products continue working as well over time as they certainly have at the start. I really don't have to use that much with each washing to get the full effect.
It gets the job done, but I don't really like the way it smells or feels and it doesn't perform particularly great. I had to bring it down another star, because it's still in my shower and I have to tell myself to use it so I can get rid of it without feeling bad for wasting product.
The only thing this shampoo has going for it is the slight evergreen/pine smell. Otherwise it is a thin and runny formula that leaves your hair feeling stripped. Not in any way impressed, particularly for the price.
