Wish it was bigger
I knew what I was getting into though. It’s a small Pelikan But I didn’t want to fork out for an out of production tortoise shell larger pen on the second hand market. I only have one other Pelikan, a larger ocean swirl. The nib on this pen feels the same as the ocean swirl. Nice and smooth but close to the edge of baby’s bottom when you look at it under magnification. I didn’t feel the need to work on the nib though. It does stall out here and there but if you have a light touch and the nib is on center, it’s great. Pelikan does make some consistently fine pens, or at least I don’t have to fix them out of the box. Looking at you Omas!

Lovely pen with a little flaw
I like Pelikan FPs, I also got the brown tortoise in a fine nib. This White tortoise color is amazing! I got it in a EF nib. The Pelikan nibs are juicy enough for me, they glide smoothly on rhodia paper, and on copy paper, The bi tone and a well adorned nib are one of the most beautiful nibs I have tried. The M400 size is the smallest of all. So if you got big hands, you better buy the m600 version. Construction: the white plastic parts are OK, the cap feels thin and a little cheap for being a Pelikan. The gold color rings are very shiny and give the pen a very classy feel and look. The celulose acetate barrel is AMAZING. The yellow-green transparent stripes and the shiny yellow brown stripes look very nice, better than the brown tortoise. The piston filling mechanism is quite soft, but feels sturdy in its construction. So, as soon as I got it, I decided I was going to ink it up with Platinum Citrus black, which I thought was the best matching ink I got. But I decide to play it safe on the first inking. So I use the same ink that is shown in the pictures. The Rohrer & Klinger alt goldgrün, lovely ink by the way. To my surprise, a few hours later I began noticing that 3 stripes have changed color. They look a little darker. So I look closely with a magnifying loupe and notice that those stripes were stained with the ink. So I empty the pen, try to clean it thoroughly, but the stains remain. That was something I didn´t expect. I haven´t noticed that on the brown tortoise. I don´t know if other buyers have experience the same problem or its just mine. I got other Pelikan FPs and they are very well constructed. Besides that, the pen is pretty nice. So I can recommend this pen to other FP users without a OCD problem.

walmolHi, sorry to bother you, but I am interested in purchasing this FP in the near future. The thing that keeps me from buying it is the problem with the staining stripes. Is it as bad as it sounds? Could you please attach some pictures? Thank you, have a nice day :)
walmolSo, will you be inking your pen with Platinum Classic Ink Citrus Black now (or next), given what you observed? As for staining of the stripes, you could possibly try putting some brand of commercial pen flush solution in it for a few hours and see if that helps. Alternatively, I've seen multiple mentions online of how Sailor Shikiori doyou has magical stain-removing powers, although I haven't been able to confirm that from my use of that ink in a demonstrator that has been 'stained' by some other ink before it.
