For a pen that’s sure to brighten your day, pick up the Pelikan Souverän M600 in limited-edition turquoise and white. It features the company’s signature Stresemann stripes on the barrel, complemented by polished white resin on the cap, grip, and end section Read More
Actually I think it IS translucent, like MOST Pelikans. The idea is to provide a visual indication of the ink level. I don't say it is an especially effective way to check the level, but Pelikan must think so. You have to hold it up to a very strong light source to see what I'm taking about.
Not much discount here. Goutlet has at $400. If you are in CA or NJ, I would buy from one of other retailers. Also - you can get lower than this price from cultpen in UK cheaper. And they have promotion for free Pelikan case.
Lynn06327.62USD from Cult Pens. Currently only the medium and broad nibs are in stock, with F and EF OOS.
I, too, got in on the M605 white at $330. I don't hold a grudge, most retailers have price fluctuations. However, if 10% drops in price over a few weeks time become the norm, MD would be financially incentivizing its customer base to not participate in drops initially. Seems like a bad deal all around. So I'm in on this one, and I'll wait and see if it's my last pen purchase from MD.

With delivery to Canada, do I pay the taxes and duties on Massdrop when I pay for the pen? Or are taxes and duties included? Any Canadian members knowledgeable on this?
I think there maybe some misunderstanding in here. In North America (US and Canada), tax is not included in the price of the item. So we have to do a little bit of calculations every time we do groceries. I know the idea is quite different from EU sellers, tax is included in the item, that's probably why you get VAT deducted from the vendor.
I believe @Pencanuck was wondering why the tax is 0 when the location of Canada was chosen. So in this case, Massdrop did not include the Federal tax and Provincial tax in Canada. Thus, the tax will be subjected to be paid upon receiving the parcel.

DeFenrirOh, that is indeed different. Thanks for clearing it up!
Not good deal especially NJ where they charge tax. Cultpens has 10 pct and no VAT. So it comes out like 270 USD. And free DHL. It took less than 3 days to arrive - last time I ordered. And it looks like they have all the nibs.
Also you can add Diamine, Pelikan and other Europe based inks since you qualify for free shipping.
zhanggooThank you for this EXCELLENT information. I was about to settle for a medium nib and Massdrop notorious slow shipping but based on your info I got a FINE nib from Cult Pens and a bunch of very cheap ink. Only gotcha was using PAYPAL (backed by my credit card) and I got a horrible exchange rate (1/.075). I suspect if I had used my credit card directly it would have netted a better rate, but all in all I'm very happy with fingers crossed to get my international package safely!
I'm fairly sure I joined the drop when it went live around 9 am EST. I was hoping for an EF nib, given that it was offered in the description but didn't see it listed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I live in Canada. Any package over 150$ is subject to taxes. Depending on the shipping company (DHL, FedEx), you can also get dinged 25-75$ transaction fee.
As for the Pelikan Edelstein ink, i have a few colors. They stay in my ink drawer as they feather on Midori and Rhodia paper.
The weirdness of Pelikan's pricing in the U.S. is such that a lot of the special 80x and 60x pens can be cheaper than the regular ones. Also, it is worth considering that this is only about $40 cheaper than the U.S. street price, which will get you the nib exchange and a warranty, which is not nothing for this brand (and while its not like we are talking about Visconti here, we are also not talking about Pilot either).
There are times I am critical of Massdrop, and rightly so (I believe) but in this case they deserve some props for showing this pen for what it is not...and that's turquoise. The color bone needs to be picked with Pelikan, whose marketing images paint this pen in an entirely different light. To my eye, this pen is a beautiful range of mid-blues, but contains none of the blue-green one would expect in a model being marketed as 'turquoise'. Hats off to Massdrop for getting the picture right on this one.
Shame on you Pelikan, for creating an expectation of turquoise you didn't produce.
I would definitely side with you on the Ocean Swirl issue--hard to defend that much color variation on one pen. Just between you and me, I've been suspicious of Pelikans limited edition releases for some time--it's always the same pen in a different wrapper. I suppose someone at the corporate level is pushing for more and more product and inevitably, they're going to end up with a few duds.
Still that Turquoise thing is a different animal--there is no standard for the color. On the other hand, if the shades delivered don't look like Pelikans product shots, then I'd expect Pelikan to revise the shots or expect more returns (mine included--if I ever purchased one ;- )
