The Rab Microlight line is designed for use in situations where warmth, weight, and packability are your prime concerns. The vest, hoodless jacket, and hooded alpine jacket all feature a breathable, weather-resistant Pertex Microlight outer fabric and 750-fill-power hydrophobic, fluorocarbon-free European goose down insulation. Mini stitch-through construction, two hand pockets, a chest pocket, and YKK zippers the technical but relatively minimal, uncluttered design. The vest provides core warmth for a range of fast-and-light activities, while the jackets offer extra protection—and all can be worn as layering pieces or on their own for day-to-day use.
Note: At checkout, choose the Microlight Vest (base price), the Microlight Jacket (+ $30), or the Microlight Alpine Jacket (+ $50). All three items are available in a number of colors and in men’s S–XXL and women’s XS–XL.
Rab was founded by Scottish mountaineer Rab Carrington in 1980s Sheffield, South Yorkshire—but the seed for the company was planted much earlier. In 1973, Carrington found himself in Buenos Aires, his expedition to Patagonia aborted due to a UK dock strike that had delayed the arrival of his equipment. He decided to stick around, and took up work sewing sleeping bags for the Argentinian army. Today, those skills and ethos of adventure can be seen in Rab’s full line of performance clothing, sleeping bags, mountaineering tents, and extreme expedition gear.
