A versatile shelter for fast-and-light adventures, the Rab Siltarp can be set up in a variety of configurations—using anything from trekking poles to trees. It’s made from fully waterproof, incredibly strong Sil-Coat 30d Cordura fabric, and features multiple webbing loops and hypalon-reinforced corners and center guyline points. Designed for solo campers, the Siltarp 1 measures 5 by 8 feet, provides 40 square feet of coverage, and weighs 7.7 ounces. If you’re trekking with friends, try the Siltarp 2 or 3, which can accommodate anywhere from 2 to 5 people.
Note: At checkout, choose the Siltarp 1 (base price) or the Siltarp 2 (+ $30), or the Siltarp 3 (+ $60). Each is available in gray or olive.
Rab was founded by Scottish mountaineer Rab Carrington in 1980s—but the seed for the company was planted much earlier. In 1973, Carrington found himself in Buenos Aires, his expedition to Patagonia aborted due to a UK dock strike that had delayed the arrival of his equipment. He decided to stick around, and took up work sewing sleeping bags for the Argentinian army. Today, those skills and ethos of adventure can be seen in Rab’s full line of performance clothing, sleeping bags, mountaineering tents, and extreme expedition gear.
