I don’t understand how so many people have trouble understanding how difficult it is to machine these. It’s much more difficult to pull tighter tolerances on machined rigid metal in comparison to soft injection molded plastic. RAMA is the best of the best when it comes to this which is why every set designer wants them doing their artisans. If it’s too difficult to do a little bit of research and put some tape on your stems, you’re going to have a rough time in this hobby and should look elsewhere.
Just received my keycap, and the slots are much too loose for it to seat properly. It won't engage with my switch or stabilizers, and rocks freely and can be pulled off. It's not a minor looseness issue. I have a hard time believing that this is normal.
I guess I will try using tissue paper to see if that helps, but it feels really defective.
dicynodontI was able to fix it by putting several layers of clear nail polish on the internal slots. This tightened it up enough to be useable. Drop also gave a $10 credit... which is barely acceptable.
People are saying that Rama has methods to make it fit and they are asking why everyone is complaining. What I am saying is, If I spend 60 fucking bucks on a keycap I should not have to do any extracurricular bullshit to make it simply fit my damn keyboard. The details should say "NOT Compatible with MOST Cherry MX switches and clones"
its known to happen. i have multiple rama caps. some are tight (olivia) and some are a bit loose. normaly i use a bit of tissue to hold the looser ones one. (im looking at you chocolatier)
Mine arrived a few minutes ago. It's nice, but not as hefty or as metallic feeling as I had expected. It feels more or less like a normal key, but maybe a tiny bit heavier. In terms of usability, that's probably a good thing, but if I'm honest, I'm not sure it's worth the extra money. Yes, it does glow in the dark (last pic below). I'll have to wait for the actual keyset to be released before I can say how it fits in with it.
Mine is apparently on the way to me, although I am not sure what I will do with it without the actual keyset. I do have regular GMK Nautilus, so I suppose I can try it out on there
7/13 Update:
Received word that these caps were facing some courier days and were shipped back to Rama after being stuck, but are now on their way. We are hoping to have them sent out before the end of the month.
Appreciate the patience!
