Following the success of the 77-, 68-, and 78-key layouts, the third generation of the popular Red Scarf keyboard—the Red Scarf III Version A—sports a brand new 96-key layout. This build-it-yourself kit consists of a PCB (1.6 mm), LED RGB strip lighting (30 cm), an acrylic flat bottom, and CNC-anodized aluminum housing, plate, and feet. It allows for customization of the RGB underglow lighting, layout (including ISO and ANSI), and color. The Red Scarf III Version A is also fully programmable, allowing users to utilize the layout as they see fit.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice of anodized aluminum color (black, gray, red, or silver). For + $95 you can upgrade to the Deluxe Acrylic Aluminum Platform . You’ll also have the option of adding the Switches Pack (in your choice of Gateron or Cherry). The plate issue from the last drop has been resolved. See RS 101 by Livingspeedbump here.
For an even more robust design, check out the Deluxe Acrylic Aluminum Case. It features smooth acrylic with a thick aluminum platform on the back of the board. Because of the angle on the bottom, it does not require feet. However, those who purchase this upgrade will still have the option to choose the color of the plate.
The acrylic bottom allows the RGB LEDs, which are easily controlled via remote, to shine through the bottom of the board and reflect off your desk. With a simple click of the remote, it’s a breeze to change the lighting modes and colors on the fly, without the need for any complicated programming.
The 96-key layout consists of 12 function keys and a full numpad. Although it’s absent of arrow keys, the modifier keys can be configured in a variety of ways to allow for you to fine tune the layout, which is both ANSI and ISO compatible. Should you choose to reprogram the Red Scarf, you can do so via LUFA's Bootloader Printer software. For more on how to program your Red Scarf keyboard, check out this guide by livingspeedbump.
