Lives up to the hype.

My impressions follow that of most reviewers. Audio quality is more than sufficient for me. I do have a pretty reasonable Bowers and Wilkins home system, so I do have standards about the audio quality. Pairing is easy and robust. Comfort level, great. The one negative is I am not sold on the touch controls. Maybe I am fumble fingers, but many times when I attempt to change the volume, I miss and change the tracks, spoiling the listening experience. I would prefer dedicated buttons, but at a minimum some tactile queues rather than a completely smooth landscape which I can't see might help. My son, (much younger than this old guy), has a pair and keeps saying, "you'll get the hang of it". Just hopes this happens while I can still hear.

Great headphones that sit very comfortably on your head. The padded band is a nice touch. Pretty easy to pair with any device and the app gives you additional controls such as advanced equalizer.

So they arrived today (10 days early) and I've had them on now for close to 4 hours to test them out for comfort, sound etc. They are comfortable even though I'm a 4-eyes and after 5.5 hours, the battery meter hasn't budged in the app. The sound is quite remarkable and the granular controls in the app are quite nice. I queued up a few of my Steely Dan recordings, probably the best example of studio audio mastered recordings ever (they don't do studio work like this any more); the sound is just as good as that which comes out of my B&O system but of course without as much depth. Steely painstakingly made sure that every instrument was recorded with the highest quality, and not just the vocals. You can hear them all. If you want to judge sound, this is the music to use, I kid you not. As for the issue with the software update, no problems on my end and haven't had to adjust anything. One surprise bonus I wasn't expecting was the ability to use Google Assistant and set them up via BT with NFC. I knew Alexa came with the update but still. I'm tickled to death with these and the thought that I should have gotten the B&Os has been left in the dust.

Really good at noise cancelling, equal to or better than BOSE. Lightweight, comfortable, easy to set up, more than adequate sound quality, good base, and very long battery life - will easily outlast play time on your laptop or cellphone. But what I like best is the ability to make calls on my cellphone. Yes, that's right, not only can you hear the other party with much better sound quality than the speaker built into your cellphone, there's the added benefit of screening out ambient noise. But even better yet the headphones pick up the sound of your voice too. No need for a boom mike. Just make sure the bluetooth is paired to your cellphone, then simply put on the headphones, dial the number on your cellphone and talk away. Need to hear what's going on around you? That's easy too. Just put your right palm flat against the right earcup and the noise cancelling goes away and you now clearly hear the ambient sound. Remove your palm to go back to noice cancelling. Neat. I love this product.

Great for Commuting

Drowns out crying babies and loud talkers on the Bainbridge ferry. Better than the Bose headphones I gave to my wife. On a recent cross-country flight I had peace and harmony for the duration. Wish I had made the switch to Sony long ago.

Product Highlights: 1) Best noise cancellation on the market 2) Worst microphone in existence, seriously, it is atrocious by anyone's standards, even in a quiet room. Do NOT get this if you need a mic'd headset. (this is also assuming you firmware update) 3) Better bass than the Bose 700. The richer lows & base are whats responsible for the amazing noise cancellation. (More SPL = stronger cancellation) 4) Sound clarity/detail not as good as the Bose 700. In a noisy environment, doesn't matter as much. But its something to consider if you require detail and listen with the ANC off or in quiet environments sometimes. The bose 700 beats the Sony's by a noticeable margin in this category. Sound quality wise, these are on par with well built $150 headphones. The extra $150 buys you the best ANC on the market. As for me, because i require a mic in my noisy environments, its the Bose 700 all day. and i can enjoy some amazing sound quality to boot when i'm in quieter environments. ( I prefer detail above all in my audio products)
