Hey all -
I wanted to address the issue of delayed shipments and communication on this drop.
Many of the people who joined this latest drop have not received their headphones due to delays on our vendor’s end with receiving the units. We are now expecting those orders to be sent out by 4/22 (about 10-12 days delayed from the original ship date).
Because of how most drops are structured, we depend on our vendors/suppliers to send out products on the agreed upon time. While in the majority of cases this works out, delays on a given drop or shipment can happen for a number of reasons.
It’s on us to be proactive with our vendors to make sure they’re on track with each drop and to find out about, mitigate, and communicate any delays that may happen as soon as possible.
We messed up on this drop and did not get far enough ahead of figuring out there was a delay (we only learned it would be a problem on 4/10), and in not communicating it clearly and widely to everyone involved as well as we could have. I’m sorry for the poor experience with the delay, but even more sorry for not communicating more specific information and details sooner. We’re taking a look at what happened in this drop to update our process and try and avoid similar situations in the future.
As Jayson mentioned below, we’ll update you with the status of shipments on or before 4/22. Sorry again for the poor communication and experience on this drop. I was finally able to cancel my order and now requested my account closed. This has just been a complete waste of my time.

They did arrive yesterday which was a day earlier than the estimate. Still took nearly 3 weeks once shipped. Headphones are a nice step up from the MDR-1000x. Sound is better as is noise cancelling. Still prefer the sound of the Sennheiser PXC 550.

Hello All,
Our vendor has let us know that while a number of orders have been shipped numerous others will be delayed by 10-12 days.
I know that you are upset and you should have been informed about this earlier but we were just informed of this today. Our vendor is very confident that the remaining orders will ship out with-in the next 10-12 days.
You can expect an update by 4/22 the latest.

Orders are being packed up and tracking numbers are being emailed out as I am writing this. It looks like not all the orders have had movement yet but I wanted to let you know that progress is being made.
We still have work to do as this is not all the orders and are actively pressuring the vendor to get the rest of the orders out asap.
4/22 is still the timeline > or until all the orders have shipped out.

Does that mean we all hope longingly at our email we get some confirmation? Suppose by some great feat that happens, the shipping takes 7 or more days?

Shipped means you'd get an e-mail confirmation with tracking, and the headphones would be on the way. If you haven't received an e-mail, you should receive a separate one from support shortly.

Asked about the other buyer here that got the future purchase credit, and this is the response I got back from Massdrop support:
We understand your request of additional compensation. However, the coupon that was received by one of our members was granted outside of our policy. We do not generally grant coupons for 2 week delay, like in this situation.

This is what support's been telling me about your coupon :)
The agent that helped with this members inquiry went against policy to grant this member a coupon, going outside our guidelines. While compensation is a solution we often offer for similar but longer delays, we do not when we believe an order may be delivered within less than two weeks passed the estimated ship date.
In other news, as people are getting ship notices, it seems like I've complained myself into being the very last shipment...

tigeraliWell, that sucks. It really does seem like they don't understand the difference between "it's going to be late, but we warned you ahead of time" and "we failed to even tell you we were going to be late until the day after it was supposed to have shipped."
The delay is bad, but the big failure here was the late notice of the delay. I don't care if the delay is only a day or two at that point.... you've royally screwed up and left your customers with no ability to find another source on time. I really hope they consider changing the policy here to reflect the difference. The policy for "we didn't even warn you it would be late" needs to be different, even if the amount of lateness is the same as an incident where we got advance warning.

Hey all - Thanks again to everyone who joined this drop, and to those of you who have participated in the discussion below. We’re glad that the vast majority of you have received your headphones. That said, we know the experience of getting them hasn’t been great - they were delayed about 7 days (on a 2 week shipment target) and we didn’t communicate the delay clearly or in advance of the ship date. As a small apology for the poor experience, we are providing everyone in the drop with $10 Massdrop credit. (e-mails are being sent out shortly). We also are working on updating our policies around communication, delay, and compensation based on the feedback in this thread. We know that this doesn't help with the experience on this drop, but we hope that some of you will stick around as we work to improve and update our process for communication and our policies here when delays happen. Note - a small portion of users have not received their headphones yet. They’ll receive a separate e-mail shortly with additional information, additional credit, and will be able to cancel this drop. We’re sorry again for the delay and poor communication on this drop, but your feedback has been super helpful in pushing us to improve. Cancelled my order as a month's wait is way too long, on top of the additional two weeks at the start of the drop. Can't believe that Massdrop didn't even offer any form of sincere apology to affected customers. Won't be back.

Yes, also they ETA for my package is only at 1st of May. which is fucked up :( I ordered it at 24/3 more than a month of wait. Also, I will have to wait more time since im not living at the states :(

Just some feedback from a current owner of these...
If you have anything other than small ears they can be pretty uncomfortable due to small earpad openings and clamping force. And the sound is pretty dark and muffled. But the noise canceling is heavenly!
So, I can tell you what I did... I bought and installed Brainwavz HM5 compatible sheepskin earpads (there is a video - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8kBi0jEU-LY - with a guy showing you how to do this on the prior gen of these).
Tremendous difference - much more comfortable AND it opened up the sound - a bit brighter, more soundstage, etc. Still not too bright (which is good as I don’t do well with bright headphones), but quite nice. No appreciable negative
impact on the nose cancelling.
I hope this helps some of you out who pick these headphones up.

Replacing it with the Brainwavz was more difficult than I thought. I had to make cuts for the clips but couldn't get the clips to clamp down. I ended up going back to the original earpads that came with the Sony's and got used to it after a few days. Not ideal but tolerable.

Glad they finally are dropping these but they're just retail price? I can get them for $349 anywhere, that's just MSRP. Aside from the retail price, these are absolutely worthit. Stellar noise cancellation with a non-fatiguing, smooth, and articulate sound signature.

I swear people are so lazy just to scroll down just a little bit on the description and read. If they do, they will see the $100 off at checkout.. but they have plenty of time to write up comments about its the same MSRP price as blank store... You will see this once every 10 comments or so..

Yeah I'd pay $250 for them. I already own a pair though (working at Best Buy has some perks). I apologise for not scrolling down to read the description. I didn't bother since I'm not looking to buy. Thank you for the correction.

What the hell? Just because I’m not discussing this drop doesn’t mean I’m not checking daily to see when the headphones shipped, am I literally one of the last people to have their headphones shipped out, as of now status is still placed with vendor.
Regardless of all your lame updates, we‘re the ones paying for it! This was my second drop and I’m extremely frustrated with how your team handled this situation. Can’t see myself buying another item off here no matter how good the deal is.

Right! I think a customer support ticket would probably get you some sort of priority too... especially if you try to cancel.
