What began as a marketing experiment in the late 1980s has become the country’s number-one lockpick manufacturer. Now the most recognized name in the industry, SouthOrd takes pride in producing long-lasting stainless steel tools fabricated entirely in the United States Read More
I typically used Southord or custom picks when I was locksmithing professionally. There's a good variety of picks here, although by the looks of things you'll likely want to twist the ends on a couple of those tension wrenches. I'm a little disappointed there's not a "normal" small diamond pick, but with two angled small diamonds, I can't really complain. There's a good chance that those will quickly become your favorite picks.
Edit: There is a small diamond. I missed it at first. Also, there's only one angled diamond, the other is an angled ball. Which is cool and all, but I'd rather have a second angled diamond.
I personally prefer the slim picks. They're a little less durable, but sometimes the extra space comes in handy. Unless you're working on really dirty locks the lower durability usually isn't much of a factor in the short term. One other thing I'd advise is to use electrical tape or similar to build up a handle on the ones that don't have one. They can be hard on your fingers otherwise if you use them a lot.
inquisitorthreefivean absolutely noobie will probably break one of the picks, but yeah the thinner picks are better overall. they allow for getting in the keyway better, and with often better places to angle from.
RayFThat is a great band - but weirdly, I never paid attention to the lyrics in that particular song. I did however memorize other songs like "Another Brick..." and "Comfortably...". Now I'll need to pull out my old albums. Er, I mean search and click "shuffle play".
Xuan_ZI have a smaller set I'm looking to replace with this one that rides with me every day in my tactical lunchbox along with spare flashlight, batteries, snack, vape crap, vitamins etc etc
VegaI have a set of SouthOrd's I keep in the car. They're decent. Better than all other brands except Peterson's and perhaps Sparrows. It bought a set like this when I was a begginer and I graduated to Peterson's in a month.
So all the photos are of zippered leather cases, but the descriptions say a "snapped closure pouch"? Just checking for clarity.
Good drop, if I had known it was coming i would have skipped the 14/15pc drop
