Ask anyone deep into mech keys and they’ll tell you how dangerous a hobby it can be. While these artisan keycaps can’t protect your wallet, they can give your current cap set a bit of solace Read More
I'm late with the review, but I'm also lazy and usually let things pass, but this problem has plagued me forever and I've had enough. I love the design, but the quality and build of these caps are horrendous. The Jade one I got is covered in gold flakes that I can't rub off. Some paint from the gold version must've been sprayed onto the Jade one. This one I don't care much about.
The bigger issues is I got a stone cap, but the bottom part that connects to the switch is damaged, the + part. It is chipped on one corner and doesn't stay on the switch. The slightest brush from my hand would knock it completely off the switch.
Overall I like these artisans a lot, and I purchased both the gold and jade lions. Only cons for these keycaps is that they feel on the cheaper side and the stem is not perfectly centered. They sit a bit forward which can rub against keycaps on a row lower than them. The stem holder themselves also have inconsistencies in tolerance compared to other artisans but overall I've had no problem putting them on different switches.
Looks really nice but the stem was loose so it flies off whenever I hit it on the side gently. As well as this, the keycap is slightly too big at the base so on two of my keyboards it would get stuck if I pressed it down because it was too tight.
I bought 2 pieces of Jade, but since there wasn't an option to select Female or Male, I would assume Im getting a "couple" of these lions. Apparently, the Females are sold in different color Dark Silver, Silver and Gray. You do know these should come in pairs right? female and male. Hopefully, SUN would re-make these Jades in female too.
Stem was off-center, causing scraping and damage to the artisan
This thing looks great, but the stem is off-center, and as such, the case of my Mark 65 is scraping off the side of the artisan. The artisan also gets caught under other keys and the case's edge, which results in the key not fully returning to the up position all the time.
