I carry this little knife nearly every day. The size and weight make it comfortable to carry regardless of what I'm wearing.
It does everything I need from an edc and the front edge comes in very handy. The fit is nice and tight and the function smooth.
There is nowhere to put a lanyard through. The single bevel edges are not my favorite to sharpen and it doesn't hold an edge as well as my expensive knives left on the dresser. But I'm also not using dulling those razor edges opening packages when I'm carrying this Variable X.

Because they only made 50 in the gray color (only 20 in blue), hahaha. Anyway, I'm pretty late in this discussion, but I just started using it as my backup edc again (I've had it for a more than a year). Luckily, BladeHQ had it on sale for $110 for awhile and I decided to buy one because I prefer smaller knives and I like the way it looks (sometimes I'm a bit superficial, hahaha). It's been a far better knife than I expected. Originally I was worried about the chisel grind, but it actually works quite well. In general, 98% of the time I use my knives only for opening boxes and this blade shape (mini tanto or whatever it's called) and chisel grind are excellent at that. In my opinion, it is my favorite box opener of the 60+knives in my collection. Is the MSRP higher than it should be? Absolutely, but if you can get it for $110 (like I did on BladeHQ), I think it's a pretty good deal. I think everyone will be surprised by it if they actually have it and use it. That being said, the MSRP on this version is pretty darn high, but the MSRP on the "Vintage" model is flat-out insane, especially considering they made significantly more of each of the Vintage models than of these ones. The only differences are the anodization colors. So, the prices seem to defy logic. I would think the blue color of this model (not the blue Vintage) would be the most expensive because they only made 20. My brain hurts just trying to understand the pricing. Anyway, if any of you stumble across an unused one for $100 or less, I recommend that you buy it. I seriously think you will be quite surprised by this little knife.... in a good way.
