I own 2 of these and let me warn you, please don't buy this keyboard. I have this one, and the other one where the lights are laid out differently. These PCBs are garbage and not able to handle the switches being swapped out enough. I've done less than 25 switch swap outs on both and they both are starting to act up in different ways. The lack of removable cable, true RGB, software, and a decent PCB with good hot swap sockets makes this absolutely ridiculous to grab over the Glorious Gaming TKL from their website. For less than 10 dollars more you get everything listed above minus the switches and keycaps and a much, much, much better product. Both of my Team Wolf TKLs are now dying in less than a year of owning them and I just can't justify telling you guys to buy this product. I'd be happy to go over more specifics if you want to know. Thanks

WolfangelGood to know. I just got one off of Amazon and it seems fine so far, despite not being programmable. I didn't know a "naked" GMMK was so cheap. That's what I'll get when this one dies for sure.

How does this differ from the $40 one listed on Amazon?

They don't have Gateron Yellows, let alone the SMD version. I've purchased the SMD Gateron Blacks from PC Gaming Race before, which are awesome switches. I actually think the Outemu Blacks used by Team Wolf on other versions of this keyboard are pretty close to the Gaterons. The Outemu Blues aren't quite as nice as Gateron Blues however.

I've only ever seen this board retail for $40-55, yet Massdrop are claiming it has a MSRP of $120!? Sure.

MisterToasty117I'm well aware of what it stands for. Massdrop has a tendency to quote... ambitious... MSRPs. Even when the product is "manufactured by Massdrop".

lailokenI just received mine from Amazon for $50 (with blue switches). It is a CIY one as well. I might have bought the last one at that price however.

KevOWIndeed it is. You can buy the same keyboard for literally the same price from AliExpress, and there you'd get a 15-25 day shipping time, incl. in price.

KevOWThis is murder. Yet corporations are still lifting prices. Let's hope these investigations go well. I would love to order new hardware at a more fair price.
Ok, now I'm confused after reading some of the comments here...
Is "rainbow" backlighting different from just plain RGB backlighting? Is it not possible to set the key colors individually, or to at least set the whole board to one color? Does this board have ONLY rainbow RGB effects?
I don't even know why they put rainbow backlighting effects on per-key settable LED keyboards, personally. I think it is just tacky. It should only be used to demonstrate the fact that each key can be set to any color as a store demo or something.** If this keyboard can only use rainbow effects then it is worthless to me. Sad, because it otherwise looks like it would be fun to have, and the option to add a set of gaterons makes it an even better deal.
** That said, I wouldn't begrudge a member or supporter of the LGBT community for wanting to use a rainbow effect on their keyboard to demonstrate their support, though since every RGB KB out there offers this effect, and so many people use it, there would be no way for anyone to know that is why you are using it.

TipsyMacScotchslurpenI used to have the same confusion as well. But after browsing through reddit and going through a bunch of keyboard descriptions/manuals I think I figured it out. Basically, "rainbow" effect is different from true RGB in the following way:
In true RGB, each key color can be set individually (or rather, each key can be any color from the RGB spectrum).
As opposed to the "rainbow" keyboards, where, each entire row has a designated led color. So, keys on the first row like Esc, F1 etc will be, for example,: Red. you can toggle them on/off individually, but those keys will not be a different color. Similarly, the second row will be a different color, the third row will be a different color, leading to a top->bottom "rainbow"

If I'm misguided, or incorrect in any way, please feel free to correct me.

firozerakibI believe you are correct. Some cheaper keyboards include 'rainbow' lighting presumably as a way of emulating an RGB look using fixed color LEDs. Each row is a different color, but you can't change the colors. Looks pretty tacky to me. If you are interested in a swappable switch keyboard with true RGB lighting, Glorious PC Gaming Race (https://www.pcgamingrace.com/) is suppose to release a TKL version of their keyboard later this year. I assume it will cost more than the Team Wolf though.

not compatible with any plate stabilizers besides the weird wobbly ones that come with it, id just go with GMMK over this to be honest

JonathanPetryeah and its much better, and much more worth it to pay the extra price for the ability to use proper stabilizers and rgb
$ 59.99 USD for no switches and keycaps, which is what you're going to want anyway since you'll put your own switches on and will want to discard the awful keycaps that come with it

Some FAQs
Q: Is the cable detachable?
A: No
Q: Is the backlight RGB?
A: No, it's "rainbow light", each row with a different static color.
Q: Is this price reasonable?
A: IMHO, no. You can get the same board on Amazon for $65 w/ free prime shipping and get it in 2 days, vs. waiting a month or more for this thing to ship. I am not linking to it, but you can easily find it on Amazon as "team wolf CIY keyboard", with choice of red / blue / brown switches. In fact, it's imported by several companies and may be listed under their own name.

I checked Team Wolf's Chinese website. The only model listed is the blue/yellow/white backlight version. Not sure when the yellow/white/purple/red version was made.
for people who want to see for themselves... teamwolf.cc is their website. It supposedly offers English website, but translation is sloppy and incomplete, with more than half of the stuff still in Chinese.

Massdrop has this item listed at a solid 49.99, whereas on amazon.ca, it is 45.99 Canadian, or a whopping $15 less.
Just a look out for my canadian people.
Of course, typed using the same keyboard :) - Ask me if you have any questions.
anishagnihotriJust a quick question, does this include keycaps? I'm looking to but this for my niece that is trying to get into mechanical keyboards and she does not have a set of keycaps yet. Too bad I don't have a set that I can let her use. Thanks in advance, my fellow Canadian!

VenomousSquirrelit comes with the white shine through key caps that are on it in the pictures
they're doubleshot but i don't know if they're ABS or PBT, they're surprisingly pretty good quality aside from the weird "gamer" font on them

Can you technically put any switches on this board which are plate mounted or are switches meant for SMD LEDs shaped differently somehow?
