Grilling in the great outdoors just got easier. From Vargo, a company that specializes in titanium accessories, this titanium grill features a bifold system that packs down small and opens up big Read More
I bought one directly from Vargo to use while backpacking. I was really pleased with how it worked. I carried frozen steaks in my coozie for our first night dinner and they were perfect. The steaks stuck to the grill a little bit but my buddy gently held down the grill while I turned the steaks and we didn't have a problem. You just need to load it evenly (like you can't have everyone sit on the same side of a picnic table).

The grill is only 4" tall so we got a good bed of coals ready and scraped them to the middle of the fire ring and set the grill (with gloves on) over the coals.
Here's the review I tried to leave at Vargo's website when this first came out last year.
" I used it over the weekend, and the grate dipped after using it. Also, when you put weight on one side and the other side has too light of a load, the lighter side goes up in the air (along with what's on it)!"
Just ordered one. I have a number of small titanium grills as I do a lot of high country backpacking and fishing in the Rockies. Grill surface seems short as most UL grills are 10 to 12 inches long HOWEVER, you have to remember that with grills without legs, two to three inches of those grills are sacrificed to whatever they are using as a shelf on either end, so I see this as closer to the usability of a 10 inch grill because of its legs. Diagonally it will be equal to a 12 or 13 inch grill. The legs are a rarity and essential IMHO. Seems like it will be a little harder to clean but I'm stoked to try it out!
BoniDude how high are you? For Titanium, this would need to be the size of a card table to be 5lbs - there are like five details here that don't agree with your assumption that the max weight ...(again troubling, why would static weight ever change) is 5lbs. Even a 2lb Ti grill would be 24"x24", easy. Or super thick, but again, these are details provided
