Looks fragile

It looks fragile, one of the rivets between the 2 grids did not hold I had to crush it with pliers. Not impressed by the quality.

The product is ok, but it arrived bent and overall it is extremely flimsy. I don't think it will last very long as the hinges over-extend, which also means it does not stand properly.

Nice as an alternative

Unlike other reviewers, I don't plan on using this on long backpacking trips. As other have mentioned, it is quick small, so its utility is limited. Most of the time, I'm just heating water to heat up pouches anyway. But, if I'm not out for long, and I can take some extra weight, it comes in handy to change things up a bit.

rs57binderJust FYI, Vargo is a backpacking gear company. While some of there stuff could be used for "camping", most of it is impractical for that purpose because its too small or too expensive for that general purpose.

Perfect backpacking grill!

*Perfect size for my needs (cooking for 1-2) * Insanely lightweight * Extremely well built * Quality pouch I’m new to grilling on the trail and have recently swapped my gas stove and now cook only on campfire coals. This little grill is the perfect stand for cooking aluminum foil packs, holding a pot/pan or toasting bread. Looking forward to many more great trips with it!

Big nod to Vargo as I now have their flask & grill and find both to be Thoughtfully designed and exceptionally manufactured. 👍🏻

Great, and bigger than it looks

When I took this out of the pouch, I couldn't believe how small it is (yes, I read the specs, but still, it's surprising). But in use, it's fine. I cooked two steaks on it over campfire coals last weekend and it had plenty of room (could even have fit another). You need to be careful when scraping coals under it, since it's easy to upend and is even at risk of folding if you have only one side loaded. I solved this by wrapping a little baling wire to connect the legs on each side. Make your connection about half an inch, and it'll be tight enough to keep the legs from doing a split, but long enough that you can still fold it over. Also, I thought the pouch was overkill (it weighs nearly as much as the stove itself) until I realized I had to store a meat-funked grill in my pack. Plus the grill has some sharp edges that would shred a simple fabric pouch, so the reinforced one is actually pretty useful.
