This two-toned version of the Victorinox Maverick is the best of both worlds: It’s as tough as a field watch and as dashing as a dress watch. Crafted with stainless steel, the Maverick features a 24-hour scale on the inner dial, a mix of Arabic numerals and stick markers, and a date window at 6 o’clock Read More
We make fun of montblac because they went from making pens to watches, but Victorinox already had brand equity as a swiss tool maker. I’ve carried around one of their Swiss Army knives since I was 10, and one of my first ‘big’ watch purchases was the automatic chrono below. It’s big, solid and well made. Use the ETA Valgranges instead of the 7750 (just a larger version)
Here’s the kicker - you can pay $250 for quartz, or you can pony up $500 for what you see below. The automatic version of the maverick watch is actually a bit hard to find nowadays, but they are out there sub $500. So brand - good. This quartz piece - pass.
I’ll give credit where credit is due......
Victorinox makes great knives, but I’ve had three of their watches that have constant issues with keeping time and dying.
Maybe I got three lemons, I don’t know, but never was a fan of the watches.

ChuckC833I've had really good luck with the five quartz Vickies I own--very satisfied. What puts me off this one is the bracelet--looks like they slapped an Inv*cta bracelet on it...very rudimentary. The watch head, dial and bezel look gorgeous though.
