Its a solid feeling low profile kit which I've had for a while now. My unit had a bit of issues getting the hotswap sockets to fully make contact with the switches, which could be fixed with a bit of foam to in-between the backing plate and the PCB. There are probably better value boards on the market right.
I appreciated the form factor and style of the keyboard, enjoyed the lighting effects greatly.
USB-C port failed since I purchased this keyboard, and this was after the warranty had lapsed.
Should DROP ever do a run of this product again or it becomes available elsewhere, I would strongly advise against purchasing.
solid board. 5 pin means this board is more versatile than the current CTRL/ALT boards. unfortunately the lighting on my board doesn't work properly and Drop was unable to send a replacement, hopefully other units don't have this issue.
Honestly a very nicely built keyboard. A little hollow sounding some places, but can be fixed with a little modding. If the look isn’t offensive to you, the only main downside is the north facing LEDs, but I use SA profile with this board, which I think looks fantastic.
I got this keyboard pretty early with shipment than it originally said. However it was delivered this Sep. now in Oct just 9 days outside the "return policy". Then inexplicably the USB-C started disconnecting. Just typing on it causes the USB-C to disconnect and reconnect. Had just a little over a month worth of use before it stopped working, with no ability to replace or go through a warranty. I have keyboards I bought of amazon for $40 with better quality.
- Drop's Holy Panda V2 - Lubed with Krytox™ GPL205 G0;
- Deskeys switch films
- MT3 ABS keycaps
- Cherry stabs, trimmed, lubed.
- Band-aid mod.
Pros:
- NKRO, Hot-swappable, Per key RGB, all as advertised.
- Easy installation, 4 external screws and PCB slide-in design.
- Type-C connector comes with the PCB (not wired, hence a simple installation process)
- PCB looks very nice. (not that you'll see them, but pleases the eye when installing.)
- Sturdy aluminium case, no flex in normal use.
- Satin black aluminium surface.
- Rubber & silicon feet grip enough to stay firm in normal use.
- Strong silicon feet magnets.
Cons:
- The PCB screwed on a plastic backplate with hollow space. Some hollow sound resonance could be heard when typing. Dampening with thin soft foam makes it better (This keyboard may have a Bluetooth variant as the hollow spaces looks like it can house thin batteries and Bluetooth module.)
- No Caps, Win-lock indicators, lights up with the switch LED instead. Backlit keycaps works better in this.
- Driver UI needs some improvement.
- Plate mount stabs comes factory lubed. But, you'll want to replace them.
- Silicon feet get you 4° typing angle. Would like to have a range of adjustment feet say 5° - 7°.
I'm very happy with the cost of this keyboard. Its rare to have a hotswappable keyboard that will accept 5-pin switches. I've installed Drop Invr Holy Pandas, and the keyboard has precisely the sound and feel I was hoping for before I built it. The only downside is that drivers for control the LED options are not available on their website.
Just put this together with Everglide Oreo switches and Razer Doubleshot PBT caps (sub'd out winkey for portal caps).
Super easy to swap switches in and out. It came with stabs already installed, although I may swap them at some point. All hot-swap sockets are working correctly and no issues with it at all.
My only gripe is that I wish that it came with two different heights of legs for the underside. The ones that come with it are a little short for my taste but I am getting used to the different angle.
All in all, great and easy kit to build a board with!
