I would like to meet the man or woman who woke up one day and thought to themselves "You know what is missing in this world? A carbon fiber cigar travel case".
VerwilderdYes, even some quality lighters would be a nice change from the USB rechargeable models that are popular. And maybe some nice ashtrays, especially the freestanding models. Or travel humidors ... The list goes on ...
Arrived today, very pleased!
Thought I'd jump in and confirm that this comfortably holds a pair of "fat" Robustos (5x54)
In the first pic the case is slid closed to the point it "stops" and I'd guess it would take up to 6x54 comfortably.
Actually at 54 ring gauge there's a little wiggle room, might just take 56, or else maybe just enough room for a super-thin Spanish Cedar wrap (like you get inside some nicer tubos).
I prefer unlined as I not only use these for carry purposes, I line them with aluminum foil so when I have to go inside a building, supermarket, bank, store etc. I slip the lit cigar into them and the cigar extinguishes in 10 seconds, I then re-light once I come back outside.
silverspurr59How does relighting them taste. Typically when I have to relight a cigar, it’s ruined. It might be ok if you catch it immediately and relight, but otherwise, they don’t taste the same if they need to be relit.
How does this work work for you? If you line with aluminum, does that help with flavor? I have little experience with trying to relight. The times I have the cigar was basically wasted.
Not sure about the idea of these cases. Sure they are crush resistant but cigars are living entities that like to breathe. Cedar lined humidors and leather cases seem to be more appropriate for cigars. The carbon fiber case is more like a sealed coffin. Trapped moisture can fester into mold. I would like to see how cigars perform versus mold in a one of these.
fwiw, i bought cubans in montreal that, upon inspection later, had grown white mold or mildew. I have no way of knowing what the shop did to them, but the humidor they were in when i bought looked legit and the hygrometer looked right.
perhaps they were fantasy cigars.
Chowderhead72Can anybody confirm?
Your math looks just about right, but I've been burned (no pun intended) looking for cases.
For reasons unknown Drew Estate rolls with the "slightly fat" Robusto: 5x54
(Love the LP T-52s! And the more affordable Undercrowns are surprisingly also fantastic).
Seems like every 5-6" case I find is "up to 52 gauge" and anything that'll comfortably hold a 54 is 7+inches.
VerwilderdSo it would need some kind of lining inside. Not sure how this could be made.
I wish the manufacturer would offer it for pen enthusiasts! Imagine the combo with my Tombow carbon fiber pens!
