therightchoiceYou could absolutely use these on the street but be aware that the tread will wear down faster. The MegaGrip outsole makes these shoes shine on the trail (part of the reason they’re $150 is because we had to outsource a really great durable rubber). The Paradigm by Altra is a shoe similar to the olympus but more specific to the roads/street.
Viper17I have many pairs of Altra shoes. I got a pair of these and they run small. I would order a 1/2 size up. Google the reviews on the Olympus 2.5. They are great shoes for trail running once you get the sizing right.
Viper17My feet are 3E and although the Olympus is wide enough if you wear sock liners, there is no room for toe splay, particularly if you order oversize. I would not order more than 1/2 size longer than your feet or they will not fit in the shoes in a way that maximizes the use of the toe box. If you have 2E width or less, you should be ok with one pair of moderate thickness socks.

According to Altra's website and Running Warehouse, these have a Zero Drop platform, but here on Massdrop it says it has they have a 5mm drop. Altra's website also says "Insole: 5 mm Contour Footbed." So, there's an insole in these shoes that have a slight drop to them, but the shoe is otherwise flat?
Hi - My shoes have arrived but they are too small! I have size 11 (women's) in the Lone Peak so I thought 11 would be fine but I guess not. Anyone want to buy them off me??? :(
AltraRunnerAnd at just about every retailer. I luckily bought the last pair at Zappos. Funny they always say only one or two in stock. Every time. If you made more you would sell more. Couldn’t find a pair last year at all.
I have these shoes and they are without a doubt, the most cushioned shoes I have have ever worn. I have a Paradigm too but the foam on those it much more rigid for road running. I have high arches and am prone to shin splints and planar fasciitis but not with the Altra Olympus 2.5 Trail Running shoes. I also have wide feet and so can not size up because I need all of the foot box while using sock liners. If you size up and you have wide feet, the area of the shoes where the width is, becomes too far forward in the shoe so you foot ends up in narrower area of the shoe. This caused me toe cramps when I tried it. The only down side, is that the heal foam is open cell and is not very durable, at least with my heals. I have hundreds of miles on these and the outer fabric still looks like new. The cushioning has degraded some but they have so much to begin with, that the shoes just keep going and going. It is not often I recommend things but these are certainly worth a try if you like/need high cushioning.
