Maybe I got a lemon, but after a few months of light carry, both springs have snapped turning this into the exact opposite of a friction folder. Be very wary of cheaper knives with axis locks and make sure they're backed by a good warranty. Unfortunately, I've had zero response from Amare after several days.
Not as comparable to the bug out as one might think
Sure, it kind of looks like a Bugout, but it is quite a bit bigger. The blade's length is approximately the same as a Spyderco Paramilitary 2. I like VG10 steel at this price.
The main appeal of this knife for me was the looks, and the fact that it has an axis-style lock. I'm loving the looks, but the action is nothing like my Benchmade knives. At this price that shouldn't be a big surprise and certainly not a disappointment. The blade is very similar to that of the Real Steel Griffin (same manufacturer) but otherwise they're very different knives. The Griffin is more fun to play with and a bit more versatile with it's large sharpening/finger choil. The FieldBro is a lot grippier and a little bit lighter and smaller overall, and personally I'd put a little more trust in the axis-lock when it comes to hard use (even while the Griffin has a secondary lock ... just something I'd probably forget to engage even if I should ever abuse it). If you know and like the Griffin, you'll probably like this one too. If I had to choose though, I'd go with the Griffin and pass on this one.
I received the knife a couple of weeks ago. But somehow there was something about the knife, it did not have anything special. It had a cheap feeling. Could be a personal thing, Just a knife that will not get much use. Could be that others like this type of knife.
