Contrary to its name, the Orthodox from Artisan Cutlery is anything but standard. Like something out of Sweeney Todd’s barber shop, it sports a long, straight edge that offers maximum control when slicing Read More
Man, I have wanted this knife since I first saw it. This is a much nicer version than the D2/G10 ones, but I’m not sure that the upgrade in materials warrants the HUGE jump in price. The D2/G10 versions come in 2 sizes, 2.75” & 3.5” I believe, and are literally 1/3-1/4 the price. The small ones can be had for about $40 on eBay, and even the larger one with carbon fiber is only around $60. I just can’t justify paying 3 times more for S35VN and titanium. I just bought the Kizer Aeilon(disregard my spelling, ha) on MD with the exact same materials, S35VN and titanium, for $90. I know that the prices of knives are not solely indicative of the materials used and that design, brand, production, etc. all goes into the price of a knife, but it just doesn’t add up on this one IMO. Feel free to correct me and/or try to convince me that I’m wrong on this one, but at this point, I’m gonna have to pass on this one.
Excited about this one. My grandfather was a barber and I have a couple of his old straight razors. Tried to find someone to do a custom folder using one of them but failed. Hopefully this serves as an adequate stand-in till I do.
It was. It looks like I should try to hone my skills. I have a few knives that don't have much of a point, that I like, my Bestech Hornet being one, but I can't see myself carrying something like this. I can get a nice PM2 for this kind of money.
14themoneyLol nah, you're fine, I was way tired
When I was a kid, these razor shaped knives looked cool as hell. When I started actually using and collecting real straight razors, they lost just about all of their appeal for me
Okay, the specs now finally correctly identify the handle choices as G10 or carbon fiber . . . but still show this as a frame lock knife (which I'm sure the titanium version was), while all the illustrations indicate it's a liner lock!
Another thing: All the pictures offering a left side (not the clip side) view appear to show a couple of (tapped?) holes on the butt end of the knife, exactly where the clip is attached on the other side. Could it be -- despite what the narrative description says -- that the clip CAN be relocated to the other side of the knife for lefties? Again, I'm guessing that the very specific wording that denies that is a holdover from the original titanium-framed version in the original drop. How about it, MassDrop?
