I like the very simple operation and great battery life. It does as advertised. As mentioned by tom.benedict, it takes a little while to get a satellite lock, so accept that and wait. For the price and small size, it is a good deal.

This is a simple to use GPS device. I needed it earlier when I was traveling but will use it on my next trip. I used it with my scouts to "trackback" a route, and it was easy and accurate to use.

I wrote a review in the discussions that I'll paraphrase here: The Brunton Get Back does exactly what it advertises: gives you three waypoints and the ability to see range and bearing to each one. No more, no less.
One weakness I've seen is that it takes a long time for the unit to get a satellite lock, and it doesn't like to move while it's trying to get a lock. This bit me hard on a hike I did several months ago, but now that I know about it I haven't had much of a problem. Set the unit down, let it get its initial lock, and go from there. During that initial lock it REALLY doesn't like anything around it. Trees, buildings, whatever, seem to screw it up. But once it's locked it seems to work fine even under light tree cover. Go figure.
One unexpected strength of the unit is the 24 hour battery life that comes up so often as a complaint. Since I got my unit close to six months ago I've charged it a total of two times. The 24 hour battery life is 24 hours of actual run time, not 24 hours of time elapsed on the clock. The thing only turns on for about five minutes at a time when you hit the power button, so it really doesn't discharge that fast. Unless you're obsessively checking your next waypoint and powering the thing up constantly, it's not likely to run down on even an extended hike.
If you're looking for something that'll give you a map, log your route, or any of the things a smart phone or dedicated GPS hand unit will do, don't get the Get-Back Mini GPS. It won't do any of those things. But if you're looking for a way to get rough bearing and distance to a trailhead or campsite, the Get-Back will serve nicely. Just... don't pay full price for it. List price would get you a nice handheld GPS unit on the used market. The Massdrop price, though? It's an inexpensive key fob with a memory.

not a very intuitive item. As others have stated very hard to get a signal. Kind of feels like wasted money.

I have no idea if it actually works because I can't get a signal anywhere except in places where I don't need a GPS, like the Home Depot parking lot. $20 dollars wasted.

The device itself is solid but the ui is poorly designed. But honestly you co ignore the weird interface if it worked at all! I have tried this little thing at lewst on 10-12 different occasion, from hiking near my town to going off grid, it never worked, the signal is always low. I have read people saying it works if there’s not much interference but I took this middle of nowhere and it sadly didn’ Work.
A total rip off. Save your money and buy a proper handheld or watch GPS.

This mini GPS has turned out to be near worthless and I returned it to Brunton for a refund. I tried it out at several locations in Oregon and Washington and it was only able to acquire a satellite lock once. My experience was that it will not work if you are buried in any trees or urban environment with buildings. My phone, however, was able to achieve a GPS connection at all of these locations. So, for hiking in forests it is not reliable.

Bad. It doesn't work. Never switched on, even when the battery is fully charged. But I bought it from Spain, so asking for a refund it's worthless for me. A pity.
