anil.thomasGot a chance to do a comparison with the Fulla using a variety of cans. The Fulla is not plug and play. Would not work with an iPhone 5c or 6+. Sound was very close but the PaT had a more forward mid-range with vocals front and center, a little more body. The rest was to close to call.
My computer has no sound coming from any of the audio jacks. I have a usb steel series Siberia headset with an external sound card built in. Does this headphone amp have a sound card built in? or when I plug it in via usb will it output sound?
Dennis.LYes, it will output sound when plugged in via usb. Although, if you ever plan on plugging speakers in, I'd recommend something on the higher end with more features, such as the Audioengine D1, as its headphone amp is more powerful and it has RCA outputs. If you're only looking for a headphone DAC/Amp, there are much better options out there such as the Centrance DACport and yet-to-be-released DACport HD, the Schiit Fulla, or even the Audioengine D3. The latter does not feature onboard volume control.

The Schiit Fulla is not plug and play......but it does work on my iPhone 6+! I use a Cute USB hub and apple lighting camera kit cable, and a usb female split to 2 usb male, and a usb battery to power the Fulla. I can tell you that it sounds wonderful, my only gripe is that even with using "EQ everywhere" a cydia app, for some reason iOS is limiting bass extension and bass quantity. I don't know why, I don't have another Dac to see if it's iOS or not, but I do know that I don't have this issue using the Fulla on an android phone or windows. The Fulla on windows with viper4windows is down right phenomenal!
hello i am new to this headphone dac/amp thing i just bought the akg k553 here in massdrop and i am just waiting for it to arrived. do i need this thing for the akg k553?
sorry newb here when it comes to headphones >.<
PoKaKuNgHi, I don't have the k553's but from the reviews I've seen I don't think you will "need" an amp to drive them; your phone should have enough power for those. The PaT also doubles as a DAC, which you may or may not want to get depending on how good your source is. If there is excess noise you may want to consider getting it for the DAC.
Here is a Reddit link to a guide for DACs and amps you might want to check out to see if getting one is worth the investment for you: https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/15wunp/guide_dacs_and_amps/
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can also chime in with your question!
