I'd really been looking forward to this; I wanted the pro, but when this one appeared, I had to get it. As disappointed as I was with this one, I didn't want to risk it again with the pro. First the good. The construction is good, and though the zippers are in a strange configuration (they zip towards the middle to unzip instead of zip, and can be taken around) they look good, and are water resistant. They lead into a lower area on one side, and to the upper level on the other side, so you don't have to completely unroll it to get to the contents of the top part. It's a really neat concept, and I really wanted to love it. Which brings us to the bad. Questions came up about the unrolled and rolled capacity, and I should have paid more attention to those. The straps are attached to the bottom of the bag, which looks like this laid on it's side:

As such, the usefulness when fully unrolled comes into question, as that gives it the following height.

The height when unrolled is double that of the width, making it a very uncomfortable carry. For EDC, I carry two bags. One with the smaller things in a roll, and one with my tablet and notebook. I also carry a hard case for a couple of pens, and another for my headphones.

I do this so that I can transfer my essentials from bag to bag as needed, i.e. from my sling bag to my small laptop/large tablet bag, to my larger laptop bag. It works well for me so that I don't forget things in pockets, but have access to them. Before this for smaller EDC, I've tried the Aer Sling, the Peak Designs Everyday Sling 5L, and a variety of others. Currently, I'm using a Timbuk2. This is it packed with the contents of the image above.

This slings across my back, and is easily carried, and is about the same size as the X-Pak One. This is the X-Pak One with the same contents.

It's like a large brick, and fits my back just as well as one. I really wanted to like it, but the combination of the lack of width and the ungainly height make it not fit to carry as a sling unless you aren't really carrying much. 2 stars because it's a well made bag. But it's not for me, though the dimensions given would indicate that it should be. When purchasing, I'd suggest doing so based on if the rolled up dimensions are enough for you and discounting the unrolled dimensions.
