The follow-up to the K60, the Corsair Vengeance K70 has earned a cult following since its release in 2013. And for good reason. It’s a triumph not only of aesthetics but also of functionality. It’s sleek and shiny, responsive and ergonomic. It’s easy to use while offering virtually endless customization. In short, PC Gamer says, it’s “the best mechanical gaming keyboard” out there.
The first thing you’ll notice about the Corsair Vengeance K70 is its brushed aluminum case. This gives it a hard edge and an aggressive profile geared toward hardcore gamers—especially when you swap out the stock W, A, S, D, and 1 through 6 keys for the uniquely contoured, red-colored gaming keys.
At the top of the board is a row of buttons. Look above the F12 key, and you’ll find the RGB LED button. This gives you control over no fewer than 16.8 million hues, which can be applied in myriad iterations across the board. To the right of the RGB LED button are dedicated multimedia buttons. In addition to Play/Pause, Stop, Forward, and Back, this suite of controls includes a uniquely textured aluminum volume knob and an easily accessible mute button.
The Corsair Vengeance K70 is no slouch beneath the surface, either. Thanks to its Cherry MX switches, it offers a smooth and consistent typing experience, even in spite of the hammering that accompanies gaming. Also a boon to gamers is the N-key rollover functionality, meaning you’ll never experience ghosting or jamming, no matter how many keys you’re pressing simultaneously.
Though the Corsair Vengeance K70 lacks macro keys, those who use the board for gaming or simple typing won’t miss them. Especially with a palette of 16.8 million hues at your fingertips, not to mention convenient multimedia buttons and loads of gaming-specific attributes.
