Considering it was a fun experience and the price wasn’t too high, I was somewhat satisfied with the MT3 BOW and a Dwarf Factory artisan, but the other sets left much to be desired compared to what one is usually accustomed to.
I bought 2 of these boxes and got the same contents in each. I understand that there is a disclaimer saying that there is the possibility of this happening, but it contradicts itself saying that it would be "unlikely" for this to happen. I took that as Drop attempting to care about customers in situations like these, but boy was I wrong. I attempted to contact support to return them as the disclaimer is misleading, but they expected me to pay for return shipping. I ended up just keeping them and giving one of the boxes to my brother.
If you've already made the decision to get a box, then just get one and be done with it. But I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
Hi Amy, just wondering if you received my response through support. Haven't heard anything for a few days, and would like to chat about your offer. Thanks!
Usually I view mystery boxes as a bit of a scam as I find you tend to get something you could have bought for cheaper. That said, I bought the box knowing this as I just wanted the fun of not know what I was going to get. I was pleasantly surprised when opening the box. I think I ended up getting a little more value than what I paid as I got 3 sets of keycaps: The Drop MT3 BoW (unfortunately I already own this set), a set that was off white with pink accents (while I'm unsure if I'll end up using these in a build, they do look nice), and a set of darker grey keycaps (never would have bought these, but they ended matching one of my boards I was having a hard time finding keycaps for extremely well). All and all the experience was about what I was expecting.
It's a blind box, so as long as you know what to expect you won't be disappointed- but in all likelihood you won't be real excited either. Here you can get a bunch of SKUs Drop is having a hard time moving.
Be sure to do some research before pulling the trigger these sets should fit majority of the normal sets like 60%, TKL's and full size keyboards but your options may be limited if you have 40%, and odd 65%/75% boards.
The highlights were were MT3 Iron Man and a Succulents artisan. The cherry sets on top of that added up to a great value for the overall price, but I'm not especially a fan of sculpted profiles (I prefer uniform like DSA, or SA R3).
Great if you're starting like me!
Not so much if you started a collection.
1 out of the 3 I got was a bit underwhelming but the other 2 are pretty cool!
