In case others had a hard time finding what this set looked like in IC (and publicly up until a couple of months ago) and wondered why it looks so different now (you're not crazy). Personally it's too different from the product I was excited for to purchase, but to each their own. "If you don't know, now you know."

FatalruinI was so pumped for this kit until the color change. Not planning on getting it now.
Hey everyone, wanted to drop an update here about the GMK Nautilus Nightmares set. The first set of color samples were not approved by Zambumon so there needed to be a second set of color samples made. The second set suffered some lengthy covid-related manufacturing delays (specifically the resin supplier was closed for business for a while). They're now back up and running, and we're waiting for the second set of color samples to get made and approved. We have our manufacturing slot with GMK shifted (and held), so we should be good to go into production as soon as we get approval. The entire process means we're behind by about 5 weeks, and expect the product at our warehouse in late June or early July. Will post more updates as we get further along in the process. May 26th update: Zambumon has signed off on the latest color samples, so we're now set to go into production. Waiting to hear from GMK with an updated ETA, will post once we know.

June 19 Update: GMK placed an order for the resin required for production right after Zambumon´s color approval. However, GMK’s resin supplier has still not been able to provide a final delivery date. This confirmed delivery date is required by GMK to provide us with a production timeline. At this stage we know that we’ll not be able to meet the earlier estimated late June/early July ship date for the keycaps. We are waiting on GMK to provide us with more information and as soon as we hear back from GMK, we’ll be updating the community with the new estimated ship date. We understand how these delays are very frustrating, we share in those frustrations. When we finally do ship these keycaps we'll be giving a credit for use on drop.com to all participants. July 17th Update: We heard back from GMK today that they're expecting the keycaps to be done in the first week of August, with a ship date (to us) of August 7th. Typically it takes about 2 weeks for products to get from Germany, to the USA, clear customs, get to our warehouse, and get unpacked, so we're estimating a ship date (to you) of August 21st. Over the next 3 weeks we'll get clarity on this timeline as things move faster (or slower) and I'll keep everyone updated on this thread. Regarding the credit for the delay, when the keycaps ship we'll be issuing a $10 credit to each pre-order participant to apologize for the delay. August 6th Update: AlexP here. Bulk shipment is ready for pick up and should be on it's way from Germany to our warehouse tomorrow. Should have a better estimate on delivery times come Monday, but I'll keep everyone posted as I hear more. If nothing new tomorrow, then have a great weekend and I'll see you all on Monday.

well I hope that it was made by phone camera and bad lighting :-) I really do prefer the greenish ones from the renders xD, well lets see! also curious when we will finally be able to get our hands on the "extras" I really would like to get my hand on some novelties that I forgot to buy...

three days later... still biting my fingernails...
I have seen far too many comments of people both on instagram and here on drop saying this set ended up looking fine or could have been worse. "far too many" being like 8 in total which I find ludicrous that there is more than 0. The colors were wrong and can be clearly seen in pictures made by Zambumon and others who got their hands on the caps finally. I have them in hand now and from the look of the novelties that are packaged separately and visible, it is clearly blue and not the dark green promised in renders and in the descriptiom. Sure, some people might like the different colorway but the fact that I have to use different to describe them is a problem. Complacency with what we got should not be a valid response if this isn't the end result the majority of people expected/wanted. I will post a picture of what I can so others can see the REAL nightmare this set is and ask for a refund because I can't imagine how someone can be so colorblind and delude themselves into saying that "It's the lighting. The lighting probably changes it a lot". No, that isn't the case here. Also, there is a difference between expecting an exact color palette, which is unreasonable in reality, versus what we have here.

i purchased during the extras sale and I feel like I would have appreciated seeing photos of the real keycaps on the page, for what it’s worth. Seems like it could be a good policy to swap in or add production sample photos once you have them.

I agree that a color grabbing app is an inaccurate way to read color values using photos taken by other people on their phones but I find it incorrect to state you need special equipment to demonstrate the color of this plastic or else photos not taken with said equipment are invalidated. Most photo sensors on phones today are a decent enough quality that you can get an idea of what color is actually being shown without the need of a research-grade optical sensor for color. Phone pictures are not the BEST solution but you dont need photography gear like a high-end dslr to show the color of something. You can still see that something is off in phone quality photos.
A new face with a new thread. August 13th Update: This is just a partial update real quick. The bulk shipment is scheduled for pickup today and should be on its way to our warehouse. I'll update again once I have a scheduled delivery date and I'll be back with a few more details shortly. August 18th Update: I'm still here and the shipment is still on it's way. No firm date yet, but it's moving. Just waiting on some coordination with everyone for the larger update. Thanks for your patience. August 19th Update: Bigger update for everyone. Thanks for waiting while we got all the ducks in a row on this one. Quick part is we're still waiting for estimated arrival dates from the carrier, but things are moving towards the warehouse. The longer part of the update involves one of the novelty caps and the feedback Zambumon mentioned in an earlier comment. After production Zambumon received his samples and alerted GMK that one of the 1u novelty keycaps was slightly out of spec. Because it is such a fine detail, variables involving key sizes and color along with the small tolerances resulted in a minimally broader stroke on the keycap. You can see the close up pics below. GMK stands by their high level of product quality and assures us it’s hardly noticeable at the standard viewing distance of a keyboard user, but Zambumon is a highly detailed person with an eye for perfection. We have all talked about how to reproduce the cap or replace it, but GMK has confirmed the structure of the artwork is already pushing the limits of what’s technically doable using the double-shot method and their engineers have already maxed out everything they can. At this point we don’t feel this warrants a cancellation or delay of this keycap set, but in the name of transparency felt it was right to let everyone know of this potential issue. The option to cancel your order is available if you are truly concerned about the novelty key. Hopefully get some updated delivery estimates here this week.

August 20th Update: Nightmares have arrived at JFK and documentation has been provided to clear customs. I expect an estimated delivery date to our warehouse pretty soon and I'll update once I get it. August 24th Update: Short and sweet incoming. Looks like these arrived in the warehouse today so they should start shipping out over the next few days.

AlexPkso what are the return policies here exactly? I mean you from drop only delivered the product zambumon approved of but... thats nowhere near the product that should have been delivered... WHAT will be done about this? WHY is either Zambumon nor Drop saying ANYTHING about the color problem?.. When I have clients and fu** up my work I have to answer them too, so why should it be any different here?
PatricioAJI don't think much can be done about the existing keycaps. I would recommend returning them within the 30 days for a full refund.

Out of curiosity, what would have been the price of the base kit if you would have kept some of the more useful keys in it, like the R3 Fn or the 00 or some of the PgUp/Down keys? Having them in a separate kit might seem like a good idea until you look at the price of the kit. For example I would only need 4 keys out of the ones in the Extension kit so it is a bad deal at $45 to $30. I would have preferred a bigger base kit at $10 extra rather than an extension kit at $40.

"A monstrous array of greens, dark greens, and darker greens" :( I still think it's a wonderful looking keycap set, but for someone who thought he finally thought he found the perfect green keycap set, all I (and Nautilus Nightmares) got is the blues

ZambumonThose photos still don't look anything like ANY of the renders, and many of your customers definitely made their decision to buy based on the renders. I'm so glad that I didn't join this one, especially with the half-baked response and total lack of transparency on your end.

I would buy an Ergodox kit. (And a Colemak too, but I can get by with QWERTY.) I've already made this comment on the interest check. And I respect the choice *not* to do an Ergodox kit, given the low numbers, extra effort, expense, etc. But I'm making this comment as a "squeaky wheel" so that Drop hopefully continues to offer Ergodox kits in the future. That's the only way I'm spending money here.

I was interested in this for a Boardwalk too. It's a pity that there are no enough R1/R2 1.5u keys in this set (even including all kits).

tprk77Another Ergodox lurker here, frequently disappointed. Almost given up looking, but Cthulhu inspired green set was worth an optimistic click through.
Allow me to be the first to point out that the ISO kit has the row numbers wrong - it says 2,3,4,4,4 when it clearly should be 1,1,2,3,4. Also, it strikes me that it's a "DEUK" kit, supporting the German national layout (WITH tertiary legends) and the English (UK) national layout (WITHOUT tertiary legends). Also, the AltGr keys are nowhere to be found. I can understand the drive to reduce the number of supported languages, but get those that ARE supported properly so.

there are just people that speak other languages than English. Maybe you should stop crying about things that don't affect you.

Funny how it seems like the ISO kit is struggling (12 kits sold as of 16.12. with half the time left on GB). I wonder if the kit had more language support, if it would be doing better? I commented on this earlier regarding not having nordic support in the kit.
