Its cardboard with a piece of rusty metal in it. It is also glued together not sewn. I am not sure is 38 dollars is worth it.

flyingwolfIt's filled with premium high density foam. It provides plenty of support and feels very good. Sure there's metal and cardboard but only for the base of the wrist rest.
Myth busted!
p.s. only one leather wrist rest was sacrificed in this endeavor.

nelsonWould you highly recommend this one over others then? I feel like it'd go great with my Ducky keyboard, but I'm not very sure about its comfort. Is it firm or very soft?

vElectrixxIt's slightly on the firmer side.
For most part, I feel picking wrist rest is more of a personal preference. Having said that, I quite like it (before I destroyed it...), and it is definitely looks a lot more expensive than it actually is.
