didn't find info regarding the specs concerning suction power. The R98 comes with 500Pa which is quite low for carpets and other competition robots in its price range. Low battery and no HEPA filter. I assume the R96 won't offer better specs. So the price is seductive but the specs on paper seem a bit meh

I have this vac and I cannot recommend this product, especially if you have pets. Mine leaves clumps of hair all over the place. It just does not do a good job cleaning and has very low suction (I have hardwood floors). Another factor is the mapping functionality loses it's map of your house quite frequently and you cannot use any of the map features while it redraws. Lastly on the negative side is that the battery is significantly lower capacity, it's under powered so this does not affect runtime too badly but feels like a cut corner.
On the positive side they are updating the app to help with some of the mapping problems. The customer service is US based and responsive.
Overall this could have been a great vac but it falls short.

WarlockobamaFrom customer support:
Thank you so much for your interest in our products. The R96 is actually a new model that just got released, therefore, there isn't much information on it on the internet yet, but here is (as far as I can tell) The only difference between The R95 and the R96.
The R95 has an inter-changeable suction inlet which means you can switch it up with a deep-cleaning brush for better lift on carpets or a suction only inlet for cleaning out hairs without the tangling.
The R96 is quite like it's slightly older brother, only, It doesn't have the interchangeable suction inlet. It only has the deep-cleaning brush. BUT it does have a self-emptying dustbin and a hand-held vacuum cleaner much like the R98. Hope that helps! :)

droseneI really want to know this answer too. I'd buy the actual R96, but not the one shown.

If this is really the R96 then its a really good deal. While I didn't find the R96 on ecovacs.com website, I did find a link to the owner manual there and it appears nearly identical to the R98. The R98 is the ONLY robot vacuum I have previously seen that not only empties itself but includes a separate wand vacuum similar to the Dyson's V6-v10 line but with a shoulder strap. Amazon has the R96 and includes images that confirm this additional functionality. The R98 is priced at $700!

I was curious if anyone has used this with medium length carpet. I have a hard floors, but a rug in my living room. I have tried out the N79S and it would immediately stop the moment its whole body was on the carpet. I also tried the Roomba 980 and had similar things happen where I would get a text in the middle of the day telling me the robot was stuck on a cliff. Im playing Detroit: Become Human right now and I don't wan't my vacuum to be anxious about cliffs.
So, TLDR: I have roughly 1in carpet, has anyone had any success with this model with similar obstacles?

JWinkler05I think the carpet cliff thing is a known problem with the roomba. I think there are workarounds if you still have it. This vac wouldn't have the same problem but it also does not clean very well.

How does this compare to the Deebot Ozmo 930? I can't find the R96 anywhere, not even Ecovacs' own site. I can find the R95 and R98.
It looks like maybe the R96 doesn't have the ability to identify carpet/bare floor while the 930 can?
