mfiumanomfiumano- Um not sure what you've done with your existence up to this point, but it wasn't reading an ad in its entirety. 2 sets. 2 sets of cutlery. It is 1 set on amazon for your stated price. This drop is for 2 sets. Let's see- yes that is a good deal.
I agree with mfiumano, I only need one set for myself. I could ask around for a friend to split the 2 pack with me, but then we'd wait weeks to get it. By then, I could've just paid $5 more to get Amazon prime delivered in 1 or 2 days. Color options available on Amz as well. $27 shipped same day Amazon vs $22 shipped weeks for MassDrop.
Maybe offering single sets for sale, and giving the option to buy multiples.
VeryDirtyOldMan5 bucks saved for a small item I'm in no hurry to get is pretty much reason I participate in group buys. or, in this particular case, $30 saved because I wanted 4 individual sets to stock an old travel trailer I'm restoring over the next year or so.
VeryDirtyOldManWhere are you finding color options for any Esbit ti utensils? All I see anywhere including their website is just matte grey or shiny grey.
Well, I finally got mine (various reasons for the delay). I must say that I am not overly impressed. While this looks awesome on photos, there are several issues with them. The material is very thin and it is super easy to bend them which leaves somehow bad impression. They came scratched everywhere just from the package which is another bad thing. Having in mind that these are extremely light, I really see no reason that they would save material and not make them a little thicker, other than being cheap that is... I will use them of course, but I wish they were a little more solid!
surr3a1Titanium should not be easy to bend at all! Wonder if these are actually titanium...
Edit: I ended up going with the Snow Peak version and it is solid as rock. Super light and I can't bend anything.
122 people have requested this for another drop. How many does it take to actually get the drop to happen again? It's been over 4 months since the last drop.
Does anyone know if titanium have any specific advantages over aluminum for the purposes of cutlery? I have an aluminum set that weighs 1.3oz, just curious. Thanks!
CardamomteaBare aluminum is reactive to acidic foods (tomato sauce, citrus, vinegar) and may discolor odor rich foods containing sulfur (eggs, onions, broccoli). Hard anodized aluminum comes with a protective oxide coating which doesn't react to foods, as long as the coating isn't scoured or placed in the dishwasher; anodized aluminum must be hand washed.
I got mine; very happy with the set! Very thin and light, but very sturdy (does not feel like it'll bend under normal 'eating' circumstances).
The sometimes annoying "teeth grinding" feeling of titanium is not present on these utensils, because of the polished parts.
Overall, highly recommended, will buy one more two-pack for travel purposes! (be warned you can't bring the knife in carry-on luggage, I asked TSA about it by way of Tweeter)
I ended up ordering two packages for a total of four (4) sets for the whole family.
When I travel, I'm not taking the knife in my carry-on; if I have checked baggage, then I throw the knife in my suitcase for retrieval at destination. If not, I just leave the knife at home and I bring just the fork and spoon with me on planes and in airports. It gets me weird glances from other passengers but whatever.
I try to limit usage of disposable everything (including utensils) at home and when traveling. Of course at destination, if I have the knife out of my checked luggage, I limit even more creating garbage.
I hate disposable utensils!
BobrazDitto about the waste. I've only had my titanium spork taken away once, but it was at such a small airport that I just asked security if they wouldn't mind walking out on the runway and putting it in my checked bag, so they did!
