These are great! Obviously you should lube them (as with any switch) to bring them to the next level. But out of the box IMO these destroy an MX red & red silent. I would compare them to an MX black with less of a bump at the end of the key stroke. Now my only comparisons are a variety pack of switches from here on Drop, the stock blacks that came on my yotr ducky, and my v1 ducky with red silents.
They do what I want after all this work to get my ducky to its final form. And that is pure thocc noises as I caress the caps with my fingies.
Can't really compare them to Gat Inks, Gat Milk Yellows, or JWKs as Gateron clearly uses thicker housings and possibly different materials, but these sound really nice. Not quite like Inks, but they sound and feel good enough.
Spring weight is a bit light though, much lighter than Yellows, but heavier than Reds.
NOTE: I lubed with my own mix of Krytox 205 (80%) and 105 (20%).
It says factory lubed but I found no lube after I opened up all of the switches.
When stock there's a scratchy quality. There's a noticeable ping from the springs. There is a little bit of stem wobble but not too noticeable when typing. Have only lubed them since I don't have any films.
With lube, the sound and feel are improved. It has a deeper sound and no scratchy feel. I like the feel and sound of them so far.
Lubed using Krytox 205g0.
Had an old board that needed new switches lying around, bought these because they were decently priced and I had never actually used linears in a build before (and I like the blue). Put them in the board without lubing or doing anything special to them and they're super smooth and sound thick and thocky right out of the box. Honestly, I didn't expect to like them as much as I do because I'm usually a tactile switch kinda guy, but these might just make me rethink that. Definitely recommend them.
MediumIntestinethanks for this! i'm a tactile typa guy but i wanna make the switch to linear. seeing someone with the same type of experience helps me out :)
It comes very scratchy stock but you may apply some lube it will become very smooth after, the sound is very deep, and the stability is very good. Overall I would recommend gateron yellow over this.
I lubed and filmed these switches once with plastic films and 205g0 on everything including the spring. It just was not to my expectations for the lingest times until I finally felt like tackling them again. This time I used Deskeys films, 205g0 on the stem and leaf, and 105 for the springs and theyre So much better than my first time. Granted I’ve come a long way from when I first started so that helped as well. The tolerances and wobble has gone down drastically, and the sound is much more balanced overall. There’s no unwanted sounds from the soring or leaf anymore. It’s not the best switch out there, but it’s good and it does need to be modded.
Overall, they require lubing if you want the scratchiness feeling to disappear.
As stock, they are okay. They are not the best, they feel similar to NK Cream in feeling but the scratchiness is huge.
After lubing with Krytox 205g0, they are extremely smooth and have a very nice sound to it. They are similar to Ink Black in sound and a bit of a feeling.
Would recommend, good price but I would suggest lubing as well.
