Got mine today and its actually really disappointing. For something of this price I expected a lot more in terms of quality of the box and the screwdrivers don't ratchet! even my 2 dollar shop one does... The timber box is more putty than wood, the crappy screwdrivers dented the wood on the inside and the logo on the front looks like a 2 year old tried to paint it. Honestly I doubt I'll ever use the screwdrivers and just keep using my ratcheting cheap one until I breaks (already 4 years old and going strong) and just use the bits for it. I wouldn't bother buying this, go to a cheap shop or amazon and pick up a set and if it breaks in 5 years buy a new one still be saving yourself money and you won't be as disappointed.

Okay I have 2 comments. First, it is August 17th 2017, I received and email from massdrop to check out this drop on August 16th 2017, yet it shows currently inactive.. I don't know why I am getting advertisements for drops I can't buy. This isn't the first time I have done this, but its normally been more then 24 hours and I just assumed the drop closed before I read the email.
Secondly. I have bought a smaller kit in a previous drop. I work IT and do repair on all kinds of devices from Apple Computers and imacs, to Dell and HP desktops and laptops. I have even used it to take apart laptop hard drives that were broken to harvest the magnets. The kit is very sturdy and the bits are harder then the average microcenter cheap kit or the harbor freight bits that round out even when used only with the handle. I even put one in my drill and forgot to set the clutch setting and did manage to torque one crooked, and Customer support for iFixit replaced it, I think I had a replacement bit in less then 2 days. I also make use of the tear downs they have on their site for fixing something or determining if I want to fix something, and I love they still do written with still picture tear downs because its hard to play youtube videos backwards to see how to put it all back together.

The drop may have been limited to a certain number of units and they "sold out" before you were able to join the drop. I just got to the drop after seeing the email and had the same thought. Having a limited run is the only thing I can think of.

Do not waste your money on this. Get something comparable for around $25 - $30 on Amazon. I have 3 different kits for around that price and they do just as well if not better. Most come in a sturdy canvas velcroed wrap bag that makes it more portable. Plus if you go to iFixit's site, they don't use these.

So this is basically the 64 bit and macro bit kits in one? I'll probably just get the 64 bit kit separate in that case.

Select Microcenters have this on sale for in-store pickup for $40.95. Unfortunately I'm not near any of them.

Microcenters literally have the best prices for everything... wish there was one in LA

I really wish they would offer these in a more portable box.

I bought this in an earlier drop, but wouldn't if I knew then what I know now, specifically: * the lid is not hinged, and is instead secured by a couple of tiny magnets. It takes very little force to dislodge the lid. So if you needed to take these bits with you you'd need to put some kind of strap or belt around it to keep the case from coming apart. Definitely form over function here - I'd much rather have a clamshell case with secure clasps for less money than a handsome wooden one that doesn't function properly. * the screwdriver doesn't ratchet It's a nice, comprehensive set of bits, but these issues would have been deal breakers for me if I had noticed them earlier.

I'm assuming that the bits are magnetic, which is too bad.

I think that the most amazing part about this drop is that it actually has the actual MSRP listed and not some number pulled from someone's imagination.
