Established in 1670, J. Herbin is the oldest name in ink production—and it has even designed specialty ink formulations for French luminaries like Louis XIV and Victor Hugo Read More
The ink is black and the pen writes.
Cheap-ish materials on the body, fittings, and nib... but the price is spot on. Don't treat the pen like crap, and it does what it was meant to do.
The ink flow and general issues are common of this price level of pen. You should have some experience in fountain pens to adjust it properly.
My issue is that both pens broke quickly in the collar area. This causes ink to leak out and stain your finger whenever it is used.
If it wasn't for that issue, that happened on both pens, I'd be happy with the price for the quality.
The pens are ok. Feel solid but a bit small for my tastes. The clip is not to strong, the snap of the cap is clear and reassuring. Nib feels a bit stiff, but the flow of ink is solid and nice. At times I feel the nib is bit "scratchy".
Maybe it’s just the pens I received but I found these pens frustrating. It is too hard to get the ink to flow smoothly. I’ll stick with my Pilot Metropolitan fountain pens.
