Add me to the list of unhappy owners. I have the power button issue and the charging issue. I sent an email to support while it had warranty coverage and it was ignored. I just sent another.
I'm adding JetBeam to my "do not purchase" list and my "do not recommend" list.
For any future drops: There seems to be an issue with the charging port on these units. As others have said, mine seemingly stopped charging and would not go on high after 4 or 5 charging sessions and started flashing after only a minute of use so I thought the battery was shot, or the protection circuit was blown.
I bought new Olight cells and a good charger. I tried charging the old battery on my charger and it was at 96% but would not run the flashlight. After charging it would suddenly work in the flashlight again but it would soon start blinking saying it was low on power. It ran for a little under 2 hours before it started rapidly blinking and only working on low/medium mode. The charger said the batter was at about 50% power at this point.
The light itself works quite well, but I would suggest a separate charger to keep things working well.
Got the flashlight and loved it at first, but after a week the battery started dying after only very limited use. I leave it charging for several hours, and when I unplug it it's already saying the battery is low. Very frustrating
Power button is a dodgy design. if bumped the plastic pin hitting the on off switch can dislodge and is a real pain in the arse to put back in. happens frequently
I bought the light on amazon and the battery stopped working. After putting in a new battery it works, however I do not like the button to turn the flash light on it is mushy and confusing.
Tempted by this light, until I started going through the comments - a couple of postive remarks if you look hard, but pretty much everyone else is saying how terrible it is.
Bad batteries/ lights that charge up a couple of times and then die, poor switches, loose parts, non reliable waterproofing and non existent customer service. Overseas shipping is more than a third of the price of the light and appears to have been even higher (half the price of the light) on previous drops.
Despite all of this I couldn't find a single helpful comment or response from Massdrop staff. A deafening silence.... and then they list the item yet again, hoping some new suckers come along that haven't read the comments.
It's hard not to get a bit cynical about a company that professes to exist for the collective good of the community they have developed, yet offers a product multiple times which they know to be crap because there are a couple of hundred comments that say so.
Wow people really can't type properly in this discussion... Seems a lot of people are having trouble with recharging the battery. Could it be faulty batteries? Anyone recommend?
Thanks again for joining this drop! We have submitted the group's order with the vendor and they are working hard to prepare it for shipment.
