Product Description
At less than 4 inches capped, the Liliput is already one of the most recognizable pens on the market. After all, it’s the smallest pen in the Kaweco family and one of the smallest fountain pens anywhere Read More

So, here's a pro-tip.
Take them out of your pant pockets before laundry.

Oh. Pen is fine. It's indestructible. I think when we finally blow up the planet, it will be roaches and Kaweco pens vying for supremacy.

I have received it today.I have not used it yet but I already have something that I feel people should know.
1. It is absolutely tiny.........A bit too small for my taste and I was expecting a bigger pen based on the picture. But in retrospect the 1st line of the description is how small it is...So yeah it is more of my fault and I should read the size description.
2.It looks not as nice as the one in the description. It is still a beautiful pen but if I saw this in a store and were quoted $139 I would just walk a way.I have noticed similar problems with some other Massdrop offerings.Sometimes some seller just provide better samples for MD and ship normal ones.Or Massdrop's photographer is trying too hard.Which I do not approve and they will not get my business ever again unless even the degraded product is still very nice for the price.
3.Mine came with one noticeable scratch on it(not very noticeable on my iPhone‘s camera)....And several smaller ones next to it....Come one I thought this is hand-made with care. For this price AND with scratches I would just get an used Montblanc/Pelikan and it would be more of a bang for the buck.Seriously,I'd like an answer for this and the questions above.I am willing to pay a premium for a hand-made product that is crafted with care and high standard but this one doesn't seem to be.
4.The thread is harsh,it just don't feel smooth when removing the cap.A bit disappointed for a $139 pen this small. Not a deal breaker in itself but combined with things said above it just made me felt that it is not worth this much.
It would be kind if you have also bought this and would like to share your experience with the pen.It would help me to decide if I want to stay away from this particular brand. Thanks!

Due to the nature of group buys such as this that MD does, I don't really think they can/would do returns or refunds. Also, MD did not make the pen. It was made by Kaweco. Why should MD be responsible for a mistake made by Kaweco?
Realize that you got a $180 pen for about $40 cheaper than retail price. Basically, MD makes little if any profit off of this sale. They put out drops to determine demand, and then collect payment for the drop. I imagine they probably pay the up front cost to the manufacturers for drops like this where there is a limited quantity, and then are just reimbursed the costs based on how many people purchase the drop.

Direct from MD website:
Some products purchased on Massdrop do include a manufacturer's warranty. These products will have the warranty listed on the drop page. Products that do not come with a manufacturer's warranty will be subject to a 30-day return policy linked here. NOTE: Effective January 2017, the 1-year Massdrop warranty is no longer available for products that are not covered by a manufacturer warranty. Massdrop will honor the warranty for drops in which it was originally offered. If you experience any issues with your product and it is within the 1-year warranty period, please contact Massdrop Support for assistance.
Basically, you need to reach out to Kaweco if the product contains a manufacturer's warranty.

Just buy the regular steel liliput on Amazon for cheaper, then hit it with a torch and voila... Better results with the colour and the same pen for Less lol. I'm much happier

TheKlampsHave you ever been a lo get that blue color that nice watches have for their hands ("thermally blued hands")? It looks black, but goes blue in strong light. I always wanted to have other items with such coloration.

SkipPpI don't use an oven or electricity to anodized. I think it's easier to control the results that way. I use a map gas torch. I've gotten some very brilliant blue colouring on some of my knives though

If you don't live in north America you probably can find a better deal elsewhere... This was the case when MD was selling the Kaweco Supra (a similar but larger pen).
I would also recommend the Supra over the Lilliput. It has the same styling but is a little bigger and can use a converter, although it does only come in brass ie no fancy heat treated steel. The Supra has a slightly larger diameter (from how the supra feels to hold I imagine that the narrower Lilliput would feel kind of awkward), and when not posted it has a similar length to a posted Lilliput (when capped or posted it is quite a bit longer than the Lilliput). It also includes an extension tube which you can remove to get a similar length to the Lilliput (which of course means you then lose the ability to use a converter). Another great thing about the Supra it uses the much more common #6 nib size, which is mostly relevant if you would consider using a non-Kaweco nib. One qualm I have with the supra is that when posted (with extension tube installed) it feels ever so slightly back heavy.
Not that the Lilliput is necessarily bad (and boy does that "fire blue" colouring look delicious), I just really like the much more versatile Supra.

I am not a fan of cartridge-only pens but I just can't help myself. I don't see this cheaper anywhere else. Not available on Amazon right now and $20-30 more on jetpens. For $30 I will wait for the painfully slow Massdrop process. I hope the nib is nice, this will be my first Kaweko pen. I went with the EF since it is a German pen. Hoping it will be similar to an F or EF TWSBI nib.

MattsplatKaweco nibs are really nice. Size is comparable to TWSBI. I have the copper liliput and the AC sport, and both shipped with smooth nibs out of the box.
Also, an easy way around the cartridge issue is to simply buy an ink syringe and use it to put any bottled ink into an empty cartridge.

Stonehenge360Thanks! That is helpful. Perfect too. Out of thousands of dollars worth of pens, I still find plain old TWSBI nibs to be some of the best for me. I enjoy a good semi-flex gold nib now and then but for quick notes a nice smooth steel nib is awesome. Thanks for the tip on cartridges. That is a trick I have already been using on a cheap Ohto Rook I keep in my Midori as a spare/backup. I can't wait for this drop, I have been eyeing this pen for a long time. Thanks for the reply, amigo.

Neither did I, all you need is a torch and a pair of pliers. YouTube it. It takes about 4 minutes to do once you're set up

This pen is amazing. I've never had one that starts writing as soon as it touches the page (from the box even). Its tiny, you don't even know its in your pocket! The only thing that may be irritating, if you write plenty little notes, having to unscrew the lid, and screw it on the end and do that over and over could be cumbersome for some. Otherwise, look and feel, A++

CaptMcFizzleI've got the copper model... ditto on it not writing as soon as it touches the page. Not sure what's up with the nib, but they do tend to hard-start unless you flex them just a bit. Doesn't leek in the pocket, and the screw lid is secure, even if a touch cumbersome, though.
All around great pen.

DermottWhen i said that i meant that this pen DOES write as soon as its taken out of the box, Ive never owned a pen before that works so perfectly well with no problems at all.

haha. I took some time today to do some research to make sure I'd actually want to get this pen (since I think I have too many fountain pens...no thanks to MassDrop T_T), and now it's sold out. I guess I'll consider that 140 dollars saved :)

This pen looks awesome, but the thought of the metal squeaking together when I screw on and unscrew the cap makes me cringe.

HORNSHi, I have the copper version, and I was a little bit afraid of such a sound, too. But no. It runs smoothly, with no squeaking metal :)
