Much appreciated, glad I could help.
With the monitors in their possession now I am assuming the monitors to be shipped out by the end of this week. They had over 100 people in this drop and I'm sure it's a logistical nightmare getting a bulk shipment, tearing it apart, then preparing individual shipments.
6-7 week delivery from the drop closing is probably what to expect.
Ok I have an update.
I have finally received my monitor. It is what I expected which is good. Also the price mentioned above is actually a bait and switch via Newegg not Massdrop. So in the end I still did save $150 to $200 on the monitor depending on where you buy. So Massdrop is still and even now the best deal you could get.
The time to ship seamed excessive but that is probably based on how early you actually joined the drop. I joined early so it seamed to take forever. Now the only real question one would ask, is the business class monitor worth it. Because the standard personnel monitor is truly only $50 more which still is a savings. It should be because the component such as the LED and capacitors have a higher tolerance which make them last longer but one will never know until years later. That would fall under LG's reputation though.
At this point I am satisfied. I just didn't like the expectations not being met at the time. Now no timeline was set to meet an expectation but you can only say coming soon so often before that is considered avoiding setting an expectation just to not meet an expectation. There is a fine line there and I believe that is my only gripe at this point. I had several emails stating update coming with no expectation set. After the third vague email that is where my expectations were exceeded. I still refer back to the fact Massdrop should know more about on hand stock from the vendor well before ordering a mass order and giving the excuse waiting on vendor shipment multiple times.
Again over all am am a satisfied customer and will probably order again from Massdrop but I will warn people about the vague expectations.
Thank you.
NICE. I'm glad to see a site that has them cheap and is legit, I've seen a lot of false advertising with curved screens. Might have to pick one of them puppies up! Thanks for the lead!
I do actually have three theories, and this comes from personal experience and seeing it happening in our stores.
1. The price of wholesale is better from LG than Asus and ACER for lower quantities (most of the freesync monitors sold here are LG) and massdrop underestimates the amount of buying power behind gsync since the majority of PC gamers do in fact, according to real world statistics, use Nvidia .
2. Very simply the person behind purchasing either A: does not like Nvidia (personal bias happens sometimes) or B: Is simply not that well informed as he/she should be in the field of monitors, or gaming monitors to be exact (again something that happens often).
3. They made some sort of agreement to sell only freesync for a better cut or other bonuses.
Hey Everyone,
Just a heads up on this monitor. I have two of them on my desk right now. I am running them both from a NVidia GTX 1070 Graphics Card. In the monitors menu there is a sub menu called gaming. In that menu you can turn "Freesync" on or off. Once you turn it on you can go to the standard display adapter settings and change the refresh rate to 75Hz. I am running both of mine at 75Hz with no issues by doing this! You do not need any special software tools and overclocking is not necessary.
Cheers,
@poohsad@CrashBandicoot Here is a shot of my current setup.
Tex-ArozziJust received this monitor as well and use a GTX 1080. I tried overclocking through Nvidia's control to 75hz. The monitor displays, but there is a lot a frame skipping. I have also tried the method said by B.Hutch and there was also frame skipping. I've tried about every combination of options and was never able to get get 75hz with an Nvidia graphics card WITHOUT frame skipping. I think there is some misinformation on the web that you are able to reach 75hz with no problems on an Nvidia card. I have never seen someone whom said that it works at 75hz also confirm that there is no frame skipping. Please confirm whether or not there is frame skipping using this website: http://www.testufo.com/#test=frameskipping
SokoSoko,
This product is NOT refurbished. It is a brand new commercial grade LG monitor that has a 3 year parts/labor warranty that includes the backlight. No where in the drop description does it state refurbished and if Massdrop were to offer a refurbished product to the community it would be in the title of the drop.
Cheers.
SokoSoko I don't understand why you would make a negative comment like that with no back up. After reviewing your profile and previous posts almost every single post youve made has been negative or derogator. If you think these products are bad etc then why do you even bother Coming back to make additional baseless negative remarks. If you have an opinion great please share just give some facts to back it up
Correct me if I am wrong.
But the pricing on this seems absurd for what it is.
I guess I'm still going to have to wait a few more years.
Point is. I would expect 4k and 120hz at this price point. But I'm crazy or naive.
ZK85That's a 24 inch 1080p monitor, if not for the 144hz and gsync,it'd be 150 bucks. This is a 34 inch ultra widescreen 1440p, with freesync, for only 200 more (and no, this monitor will never retail for $1000, that's a marketing truck to make you think this deal is much better than it is,look at the 34 inch gsync monitors, $1200+, they're up to $500 dollars more than comparable monitors without gsync.
