Consolidate your carry and protect your valuables with the Machine Era Slim Stainless Steel Wallet. Measuring less than a third of an inch thick and weighing just 1.2 ounces, it’s never a burden in the pocket Read More
Just got mine from the drop. It's about the same weight as my old aluminum machine era first gen, I couldn't measure directly because my dumb scale just broke.
The elastic is a lot stronger (though that could just be wear on the old wallet), which is a good thing and a bad thing:
a good thing because, of course, it'll hold stuff better.
A bad thing because the new shape means you have to stretch the band length-wise to put a card in, which is difficult if there's not already one or two in there. But that's really just a nitpick
All in all, I'm very happy with it.
I don't own the wallet in this drop, but the "original" wallet in Gunmetal.
I've had it for 1 year and 9 months, and I'm still impressed over how well it has held up. There is no warping from keeping it in a front pocket and general use. The original elastic band still grips the cards securely. The color has not changed and will "save" some of the oils left by your hands from use.
The only downsides of the *original* wallet I have is the limited card capacity and some minor fraying at the seam of the elastic band. The capacity is small at 6 cards, but that is only if you have cards without raised numbers. I have only had to cut frayed strands of the elastic band twice. The band is well made and holds up over time.
The wallet in the drop should be well made and last you for years. If the build quality is anything near what the original wallet has, it will definitely last and still look sharp over time.
How's the wear on the DLC? Does it keep it's coating after extended use? I'm afraid that if I get the DLC, it'll chip the coating as I use it. Especially concerned when opening bottle caps with it.
I think there's an error here: "The 300 stainless steel construction it also RFID protected to keep unwanted predators from stealing precious information. "
"...means it's also RFID protected..."?
