Like the leatherback sea turtle, who dives thousands of meters in search of prey, the Makara Sea Turtle is no slouch in the water. Water resistant to depths of 300 meters (or 984 feet), this automatic watch is ready for beach vacations, rainy days, and anything else you throw its way Read More
Within one week of warranty expiration the Markara loses it's water seal and partially fogs up. I do not even shower with this watch on.. Anyone else had water resistance issues or issues with the warranty?
Not sure who to direct this to......My new Makara sea turtle, maroon face watch was running eight minutes a day fast. Unacceptable. Brought it in to a local watch repair place for “adjustment”. He asked me if I had opened the back of the watch (I had not.). Turns out watch had a bent mainspring, and the two hands were rubbing as they passed (and one was loose.) There was also a fair amount of dust inside. This is a NEW WATCH, right? Lousy quality control? Passing off defective returns as New? So far (one day after adjustments) the adjusted watch seems to be running ok. Perhaps someone at MASSDROP would like to comment on this. Although this is the third watch I’ve bought through MASSDROP, this doesn‘t inspire confidence. I would also like to hear back from Makara.
You might want to find another watch repair guy. When a new watch is running erratically, one of the first things he should check is the hands. Real simple. Pops off the crystal, looks at the hands with a magnifier (loop), straightens them out if they are bent. Can even check it without removing the crystal. I went to a certified Rolex repair center, figuring if they can work on Rolex, Makara should be no problem. It wasn’t.
Just got mine , thanks God arrived safe without any issue. i installed an strap made by my good friend from an electrician boot leather , I can say I am very happy with this piece , now just wait for the patience patina 😝
easy to remove ,the spring bar that hold the buckle its a piece of sh.... , you have to cut it and replace it with another one 24mm , also the other 2 spring bars I recommend to replace them for the fat ones that are stronger .
8 minutes more or less not a big deal any watch smith can regulate it for not to much $ , or go to you tube and maybe you can do it by your self . goo luck .
NtimEI had no idea the buckle (that has MAKARA engraved in it) is on a spring bar! I did find a local jewelry store who does watch repairs who would reset the movement for $20. Seems reasonable, but a sad commentary on quality control on a new watch. Thanks for getting back to me - enjoy the watcb!
I have had my teal sea turtle for a month and a half and love it. I bought another in the recent drop as a gift and the hands interfere with each other and the watch wont run. I've already gotten my return label from Massdrop. It seems like from a lot of the posts that Makara has some quality control issues.
ghwatchHad my Makara a day now, and it is running 8 minutes fast per day. Not normal for this movement, usually reliable. Anyone have any thoughts on how to fix problem?
Just received my Makara Turtle with maroon face. Looks good, if quite large. Has some discoloration on bronze. Any recommendations on getting rid of them? I’d like to let it patina uniformly over time, but needs to have no “spots” to begin with. Thanks!
