Unlike traditional flashlights, the Maratac AA Aluminum TPF (Tactical Personal Flood) Light features a wide 105-degree-angle beam. Great for working under the hood, traveling with a group, or setting up camp at night, it’s armed with three different brightness settings, each of which is accessed by twisting the head or tailcap Read More
Love it.
Mine goes LMH after it's been off for a little while. when you turn it off then right back on, it switches to the next higher brightness. I can clip it onto my tshirt neck/collar and illuminate a nice FOV whichever way I turn with both hands free.

Holding out for the copper AAA ... Nudge nudge wink wink
So I got one of these from the last drop.
It's pretty cool. My concern with this light is whether it improves over using just using a headlamp for hands-free operation. The answer for me is that this is much more compact, and much more reasonable to EDC than a headlamp. It's actually pretty tiny.
I was lamenting the lack of a base magnet before, but after getting it, and thinking about the pros and cons, I think it's actually a good idea not to have a magnet on the base.
Because if you stick it in your pocket, there's some danger of messing up the magnetic stripe of any credit cards that may be nearby. And it will stick to stuff in your pocket, which is pretty inconvenient and annoying.
I'm not missing a magnet on this.
The one gripe I have about lights with lenses is that there's often a off-putting chromatic shift around the edges of the light circle. It's not so apparent on the high setting. But as the light is dimmer, you can really see it. This is something I notice in a number of my flashlights that have lenses on them.
Also, there some risk of the lens getting scratched up if carried in the pocket (without a microfiber pouch), as the lens is unprotected by a lip.
Otherwise, it's a good little hands-free flashlight.
Tantal0074I tried everything I could think of for Ipx rating and got nothing. Would love an idea of H20 protection of some sort. Still...I'm nearly tempted to jump on this. Lol
Well this isnt the olight H1R I am currently coveting but could be a nice starter light for my edc and ghb packs as the clip lets it sit perfectly out in front shining the way. It's hard to say no to a AA light in this format regardless of the lack of a magnetic base (imo). It will free up a hand which is cool. I'll have to snag this when the price gets lower (I hope) so the budget will smile at me.
Why is there no magnet in the base? That would make the case for this light over using a headlamp for hands-free lighting.
I've held off on these so far as I've found a headlamp to be a perfect hands-free solution for me. Having a magnet in the base would just make this a no-brainer for plopping it onto a surface. It would make it so much more useful and offer a mode of use a headlamp does not offer.
Still, I'm going to try this out. I like the black anodized color, and I find I can't use anything smaller than an AA battery in these kinds of lights.
A single AAA is usually too dim and short lasting for me. So this AA model should fit the bill.
K.T.NI did a review of the AAA and think it is a game changer for handsfree use. The magnet is less useful than the clip because the clip can be used on your person, while the magnet needs an external object. I discuss this and show the light compared to other lights in my video review:

Hey @JWPepper, @CaptainQuinoa,
Thanks for flagging that, we've tweaked the copy to specify that this is a twist on/off light. I do want to mention that with the light slightly in the off position, you can squeeze it to make the tailcap twist switch act like a momentary switch.
