Here at Massdrop, we love to game—and we know that many of our members do, too. We also know that gamers can be tough to please, so our first venture into gaming panels had to be top notch. Introducing the Massdrop Vast Curved Gaming Monitor. Measuring 35 inches from corner to corner, this ultra-wide HD monitor boasts a resolution of 3440 x 1440p, a 2-millisecond response time, FreeSync technology, and a refresh rate of 100 hertz. All this makes for a seamless visual experience when gaming, working, watching a movie, or simply browsing. Thanks to the strong 1800R curvature, anywhere you look on the monitor is a sweet spot. And with a static contrast ratio of 2,500 to 1, the monitor displays super deep blacks and vibrant colors to bring out the best in every scene.
Note: Due to the popularity of this product, we’re having trouble keeping it in stock. Preorder now and we’ll reserve your spot in our next run, expected to ship June 10th.
Most monitors are made with a plastic bezel, whereas the Vast has a bezel that’s constructed with two pieces of bent aluminum. The result? A strong, professional build that looks great in the gaming room or the office. With the gas-spring stand, you can easily adjust the monitor’s height to your liking. Feel free to rotate it vertically if you like. Another key design element is the VESA (100 x 100) mounting compatibility, which means you can mount the monitor on a wall or arm with ease. Coated with 3H anti-glare surface treatment, the panel is clearly visible to nearly 180 degrees. Even the inputs are positioned on the side for easier access.
The two most common panels today are TN panels and IPS panels. TN panels, typically used in laptops and budget monitors, tend to have poor color reproduction but can operate at high refresh rates. IPS panels (usually much more expensive) are known for the best color reproduction and have slower response times and refresh rates. The Vast has a VA panel. Known for their high contrast ratio, VA panels produce deeper blacks and virtually zero light bleed, which makes for a better visual experience—especially when gaming and watching movies. With a 2-millisecond response time and a 100 hertz refresh rate, the Vast is just as fast as any TN panel. And with sRGB coverage of 100 percent and a 2,500 to 1 contrast ratio, it has color performance that’s on par with first-rate IPS panels.
Rounding out the Vast are some key details to highlight. First is picture-in-picture mode, which allows you to use multiple inputs to simultaneously display different screens on the same monitor. Use it to watch TV as you do some work or play games. Next is the power LED. It’s a small touch, but the power LED is intentionally dim so it won’t distract you if you like to play with the lights off. Last but not least, to adjust settings, the panel is equipped with an intuitive joystick-style control panel, too.
