Hey guys!
As promised - we’re releasing the acrylic base for the tokyo60!
@yanbowu and @johnyu have been hard at work behind the scenes to make this happen... and to also re-release alu bottoms in the limited R1 colors.
looking for this to be the first of many mini-drops to let you customize the tokyo60!
Round 1 buyers have to wait until March to get their daily recommended intake of RGB? Sounds very unhealthy.
Or will acrylic diffusers ship on their own date if we don't want another base or keycaps?
What size and length screws are included in this kit? The ones I got in my acrylic set aren't long enough and MD support is unable to assist.
I need to source replacement screws from elsewhere.
bretkDid y'all ever find replacement screws? I picked up a bunch of stainless steel M3-0.5 x 20mm pan-head machine screws, and have replaced the short ones Massdrop sent on all three of my Tokyo60s. Much happier!

Has anyone else tried swapping switches in their Tokyo60 board? I had mine working with the purple Zealios that I ordered with the kit, but when I swapped these out with new Zilent 67g switches, many of the switch positions no longer worked. I tried multiple times with different switches, but the dead positions remained dead.
EDIT: Okay, got it working again! I remembered what my mother told me when I was a little kid struggling to put something together. "You have to hold your mouth right," she said. So, I tried this, and it worked! Seriously, as most of you who successfully put your Tokyo60s together, there is a knack to aligning the switches properly before applying any force to snap them into final position. It appears that even a slight bending of the metal pins disrupts the connection, but proper aligning keeps the pins straight.
I also used the trick that someone posted here for removing switches. That is, remove the base , flip the board over, and push the center post of the switch with a BIC ballpoint or similar tool. This works beautifully without damaging the switch.
Another good tip, as someone else suggested, is to test each switch as you go. I like to use the Switch Hitter program from Elite Keyboards for switch testing.
HypersphereThanks for this advice. Was removing the switches from my tokyo from the top and they kept opening in half and I broke a few trying to get them out. I'll use your method for removing the switches tomorrow and then get to lubing my zealios!
dukenate5Glad to know that my post helped you out.
Once I got my Toky60 working with Zilent v1 67g switches, it has become my favorite of all I have tried with Cherry mx or clones. I have ordered a few Zilent v2 switches to test. They are much more tactile than the v1 switches and I might eventually build another board with them and/or replace the v1 switches with v2 in my Tokyo60.
My preferred switches are still silenced and lubed Topre 45g, IBM Model F, and SKCM blue Alps. However, if I had to use Cherry mx or a clone, I would thus far opt for Zilents in a premium chassis like that of the Tokyo60.
Sorry, I also have V1 but what is the sense of obtaining another color plate that the one that matches my V1 other than the acrylic diffuser? I do not understand...
