Product Description
As much a work of art as a set of functional dice, this polyhedral set is made from opalite with engraved Arabic numerals on each side. When the light hits the dice at different angles, it changes colors Read More
Saying that these are "engraved" might be a bit misleading. I have two sets of these dice, and those numbers are printed on. Still an amazing set of dice , just be aware what they are/aren't...
After getting my refund I did order a set of the correct dice (gave the printed set to my wife). I have to say, I didn't like the hoops I had to jump through, but these dice are gorgeous. Seen here with the aquamarine set I bought awhile back and received at the same time due to an address error. Not today, chaos.
parallaxA lot of reviews are reporting painted numbers.
Can someone from Massdrop contact the vendor to double check the numbers on these?
Can someone from Massdrop guarantee that these will be engraved, and that we can get full refunds if we incorrectly receive the wrong dice?
For the record, these dice cost MORE than the painted dice direct from MDG:

EDIT: To answer parallax's question, for a while MDG has produced both opalite dice with engraved numbers and separate opalite dice with printed/painted numbers. The pictures, title, and description of this drop all feature engraved numbers, but both types exist, and buyers on drops in the past have received the wrong dice. It would be helpful for a Massdrop rep to confirm that we'll be getting engraved dice, as without that you'd have to assume that you might be overpaying for printed numbers as others have in the past (see lakoben's pictures in the reviews for this drop for an example).
CurbyA little more information. If you look at pictures on the MDG site, the engraved characters have thinner strokes and have more jagged edges to the characters. In contrast, the painted numbers are thicker (as if rendered in bold font).
The pictures on this drop ARE of engraved dice, and match the drop title and description.
These dice are definitely not engraved. I have another set of engraved opalite dice, and these are printed on. I'm in contact with Massdrop Customer Support now about this. Will update.
TezaYeah please let us know. This should be an immediate refund, there is another drop on this site that ran for cheaper where the die were not engraved. I got those and decided I wanted another set that was indeed engraved, but I got the same ones.
ItsAeolusFor those wondering yes they did arrive before her birthday and she loves them. And yes they are engraved!!! For the last time, people.....there is even a seperate drop for the ones that are not engraved!!!
BluwizI wish I'd seen this in time to let you join the drop.
They aren't *fragile*, but they're definitely more susceptible to chipping and breakage than acrylic or metal dice are. So: (1) Roll on a fairly soft surface. A Battlemat would be fine. I use a leather dice tray. (2) Don't shake or roll more than a couple at a time, and don't be too vigorous. Just use common sense. You're get a good sense of what they can handle when you have them in hand.
If you do use common sense, and they still break ... well, I spoke to the MDG guy, at GenCon, *specifically* about these dice. He assured me that if they break, and the owner wasn't being unreasonable, he'd have no problem replacing a broken die. I trusted him, and, to be honest, that's the only reason I got the blue sandstone and these.
The title says engraved numerals but the images appear to have the numerals painted on. Can we get some clarity as to what this product actually is? Thanks!
experiencingDiceRagehad a response from support and sent in my photos and explanation of what i was expecting. I've been refunded the drop fee but that still leaves me down $20. Fingers crossed i don't end up out of pocket for whoever's mistakes this was.
