Designed to fit all MMCX in-ear monitors, the BTX1 makes it easy to go wireless with your IEMs. Available in black and clear versions, it offers support for AAC and Qualcomm® aptX™ codecs to ensure maximum wireless audio quality from AAC- and aptX-enabled devices Read More
I mean the mp80s fit on it, but it isn't snug on the right connector and comes off pretty easily. Issue isn't there with the 215s.
I mentioned mine was the 2018 version because apparently the previous one got trashed over poor connectors or something.
RobertTho87That can happen as manufacturing isn't an exact science. There are tolerances and nothing is done in thousands of copies with exact measurements. This problem can arise with any IEM with MMCX connectors.
You make some reasonable points. It is, however, a $60 MAP product. There just can't be much margin to go either way on these and they are selling what they can get not what we want.
I am more concerned about whether these are the 2018 builds. I expect these to be leftover stock of the older builds since there has been no comment from Massdrop about it.
59.99? Why would anyone on earth want to pay and wait 9 months for something you can get for the same price on amazon and be delivered in a couple of days, with a better aftersale service?
I have a pair of Etymotic ER3XR in-ears (which have MMCX connections), and these look like a great way to make them bluetooth headphones. My biggest concern is the angle of the connection- these look like they were designed for connecting to drivers that are angled perpendicular to the connection, while the ER3's MMCX is at the back of the earphone:

Any ideas if these will work? I'm assuming the memory wire at the ear hook can be bent to accommodate, but I'm wondering if they'll still hold comfortably/securely if I do that.
SubFuzeYep, should work fine. I had the issue some people mentioned here with a dodgy MMCX connector... at some angles the audio would cut out. Today received a Macaw TE10 headset I ordered off joybuy a couple weeks ago which is playing nice with the Etys and my devices. Also had to remove some plastic on these but the connector definitely fits much more securely. Right now would recommend ordering those if you can wait given they are also a fair bit cheaper. I've found actually having the cable go over your ear seems to feel most comfortable on both these and the MEE's, just need some tension on the cable at the back so the cable will stay over your ear.
Are there any advantages of BT 4.2 over this 4.0, like the plussound cable with 4.2? I really like the form factor of this instead, just wished it had the latest BT version and 2-pin options for my ciem's
What matters more is whether or not a device supports the APTX or AAC standards. Most bluetooth headsets only support the standard SBC which is why bluetooth has been so badly maligned for having horrible sound and introducing lots of noise. APTX is the preferred wireless protocol but any "i" devices (iphone, ipad, ipod etc.) does not support APTX but they do support AAC. Both APTX and AAC are touted as "lossless" (in reality no) wireless audio protocols that utilize the bluetooth spectrum. As Guns correctly stated, as far as data transmission, anything after BT 3.0 is pretty similar where BT 4.0 basically coalesced all of the various BT 3.0 substandards under one and then introduced low power application and link security. BT 4.0 to 4.2 have incremental differences that have nothing to do with data throughput.
When looking at bluetooth for audio the most important things to look for are ATX and AAC (if you have an apple product)
