This is an inexpensive option for an excellent all around utility knife. It is a medium size knife with a nice weight, rubberized handle, Scandi grind, and excellent steel that takes a razor sharp edge and keeps it. The nice thing about a knife with a scandi grind is that it is easy to sharpen in the field. This knife does not have the sharp angle that knives with thicker blades and a scandi grind have. Makes this guy all the more versatile. It’s a good camp or everyday chore knife, but the blade is thin enough that it works just as well for cleaning fish and food prep out in the field. These are just a great knifes to have on your belt, toolbox, or tackle box. They generally come razor sharp, but i’ve heard of exceptions. They are easily brought up to a very sharp edge. Unless you’ve really beat up the blade, all you need is a good kitchen steel or Ceramic Rod to bring the edge right back. Even with a badly beat up edge, you should not need anything more than a fine to medium diamond stone. Then finish the edge off with a steel or ceramic rod. There are lots of good vids on YouTube showing how to sharpen a blade with a scandi edge. ‘Available in Carbon Steel, or Stainless. Both take a fine edge. These are tools. There are pros and cons to each depending on the task you intend to use them for. The Carbon Steel will hold its edge longer but will require maintenance to prevent rust. These days I use a light coat of coconut oil. It travels as a solid, melts from the heat of your fingertip, and is edible. No worries about what kind of lube is on this knife if i’m out and just want to slice up an apple. The stainless steel will get razor sharp. It will dull sooner than the Carbon steel blade with heavy use, but is easily brought back. Takes little to maintain an edge, and excells around or in the water. The only negative to these knives are the plastic sheath that they come with. They will do the job of protecting the blade in a tool or tackle box, but they are rigid and awkward to sit or move around with. There are many inexpensive leather sheaths from places like the knife connection that will feel a lot better on your belt.

Solid, sharp, dependable, and best of all... affordable enough to not mind using it hard.

The only thing that would make this knife better is a full tang

GaflossWhy? Lots of people have done destruction tests on these knives. The only way you would break the tang on it is if you were deliberately trying to wreck your knife. Full tang is overhyped.

I love'em! They are a very capable woods knife and an exceptional value. Solid blade and a generous handle (I have rather large hands). They stand up to moderate batoning, just dont try to drive it through a 3" piece of hickory and you'll be fine. A little file work to sharpen the spine and it throws sparks like a grinder off a farrow rod. And for the price, if you do brake or lose it, you wont cry near as much as you would with a high dollar blade.
