How much work is it to replace the battery? I normally stock CR2025 and CR3025 cells at home, but if the back is a snap fit then replacing cells twice a year would get old fast.
BF_HammerAnswering my self here: https://nowa.watch/battery-replacement/
Press-fit back requiring a case-back knife to open and a press to put back on. Yeah, I have all the tools already. But I really don't like dealing with press-fit backs, especially when we are looking at possibly replacing the cell 2 times a year. Could they have at least made a screw-on battery compartment hatch? Something that removes by using a coin as a screwdriver like the old Accutron 214. Hey I even have a CWC quartz military watch with a screw-on battery cover and that cell lasts 5 to 7 years. This combined with the lack of minute chapter marks make this a pass.
I grow weary of these "I always wanted a (fill-in-the-blank) so I spent the last (fill-in-the-blank) years creating one from scratch" stories launched on kickstarter, from here today, gone tomorrow, always out of stock, micro-brands. Not to mention the fact that when it comes to Smart-Watches, I'm smart enough not to go with a non-standard example from an "if-y" developer.
You?
RayFIdk, I'm torn on purchasing it myself. I hear you. But that's how smart watches started in general. The pebble was the first smartwatch in the market. And then yes, samsung and many others began making more polished watches. But the pebble watches by themselves are still great, I loved mine. That small microbrand got bought out and there is no more software Support. The companies either get abandoned or bought out. But a fun watch for a few years is still worth it, I think. The nowa watch is priced as a fun watch you can wear for a while.
I picked one up on the original Kickstarter. The app at the time was completely unusable and never connected to the watch consistently. This made the watch a paperweight since adjusting the time is only available in app.
Has anyone tested the app since?
DermottYes. You can set the time from the app only.
The price on Kickstarter was $99 for the early bird and $119 for the next tier.
I really like mine and hopefully they will improve on the app. It's not as flawless and trouble-free as it should be.
that_other_guySpecifications are on their web page. The bands are made from a very nice soft leather.
I have a black and a brown leather ones. Do not know about the others.
